Like the diverse backgrounds of its members members, BJX’s music reflects the multicultural vibrancy of the band’s hometown, , . Singer Enushu began entertaining her local community as a child in Addis Ababa. Forced to leave Ethiopia, Enushu migrated to Australia bringing hauntingly beautiful compositions inspired by her remarkable life story and the unique vocal traditions of Ethiopia. Enushu is joined on vocals by poetic giant and lyrical miracle Mr Monk, Zimbabwe born and Outback bred. When not touring BJX run a weekly session at cultural hub The Horn creating new songs live on stage featuring guest artists from all walks of life. The facility BJX has with this practice lies in the improvising traditions of that feed BJX including Hip Hop, Jazz, Azmari and Funk. Black Jesus Experience have recently released their 6th studio album, their second collaboration with their long time mentor, the inventor of Ethio-Jazz: Mulatu Astatke. Bob has many awards including The Don Banks Award, Australia Council, The Ken Myers Award, Victorian Arts Centre and was recently inducted into The Bell Awards Jazz Hall of fame, to name a few. Joining Bob for this musical tour will be composer, arranger and bassist Jon Chidgey has the honor of being the only graduate at the VCA to be accepted on both bass and drum kit. Jon was part of The Stonnington Gardens jazz Show band which played with who’s who of Australian Jazz for a decade, Drummer Gordon Pendleton, hails originally from Geelong, cut his teeth playing rock n roll with the famous Fendermen Showband. Gordon joined Bob’s Blues on the Boil, for over a decade doing TV shows, The Sydney Festival and the first live ABC recording of a local Blues band (Potent Brew). Gordon was also selected to perform with famous USA blues guitarist Champion Jack DU Pres Bob ,Gordon and Jon have doing this show in a plethora of venues around Melbourne and regional areas.
