PYRCZ Zoological Museum, Institute of Zoology, Jagiellonian University, Ingardena 6, PL-30060 Krakow, Poland ABSTRACT.- Memphis montesino, n. sp., is described from the Pantepui highlands of southeastern Venezuela. Its systematic status in relation to allied taxa is discussed. KEY WORDS: Amazon, Anaea, behavior, Bolivia, Canaima, Costa Rica, Catasticta, Darien, Dismorphia, Ecuador, endemism, forest refuges, Heliconiinae, Ithomiinae, Memphis montesino n. sp., Panama, Pereute, Peru, premontane forest, Pronophilini, speciation, taxonomy. This is the first species of the genus Memphis Hiibner reported oblique darker line broken at vein Ml; a whitish spot is noticeable on as endemic to the Pantepui region (southeastern Venezuela). the costal margin in the medial area. RESUMEN Se presenta el Catálogo de la Colección expuesta, como de otros al interno del Museo de Celestino Kalinowski del Parque de Las Leyendas, ubicado en la ciudad de Lima. La mayor parte de la colección, de ámbito nacional, proviene de la cantera y de la actividad taxidermica de C. Kalinowski. En el museo se exponen una relación de ejemplares de invertebrados y vertebrados, estos últimos en disposición museográfica ordenada y enmarcada en diseño de dioramas en el contexto de representación de los ecosistemas del país. Se proporciona información taxonómica e índice alfabetico del material biológico, acervo del museo en su conjunto. Palabras clave: museo, ciencias naturales, catálogo, colecciones, vertebrados ABSTRACT The Catalog of the Exposed Collection is presented, as well as of others inside the Celestino Kalinowski Museum of the Parque de Las Leyendas, located in the city of Lima. Most of the collection, of national scope, comes from the quarry and the taxidermic activity of C. Kalinowski. The museum exhibits a list of invertebrate and vertebrate specimens, the latter in an ordered museographic arrangement framed in the design of dioramas in the context of representation of the country's ecosystems. Taxonomic information and the alphabetical index of the biological material, the collection of the museum as a whole, are provided. Hybridization in the Species of Enantia Jethys Complex (Lepidoptera, Pieridae)
Poster ID: 305 Hybridization in the species of Enantia jethys complex (Lepidoptera, Pieridae) Jovana M Jasso-Martínez, Salima C Machkour-M´Rabet, Roger Vila, Rosario Rodríguez-Arnaiz, América N Castaneda-Sortibrán Abstract With at least 10% of the worldwide species involved, hybridization is common in animal species. Hybridization events have been largely demonstrated in butterfly natural populations. Studies have shown that interspecific gene flow remains important even after speciation, and therefore hybridization and introgression are an important factor for the evolution of species as a source of genetic variability. Enantia is a butterfly genus of the family Pieridae, and currently contains nine Neotropical species. The Enantia jethys complex is a Mesoamerican group composed by three species (E. jethys, E. mazai, E. albania), all of which are sympatric in Mexico. Results: We carried out separate and concatenated phylogenetic analyses among Mexican specimens of the above taxa using DNA sequences of three gene markers (COI, RpS5, Wg) and ISSRs. The separate analyses recovered distinct topologies and all markers had high levels of interspecific gene flow. We found evidence of directional hybridization. Hybridization always involves E. albania with the other two species, but it never occurs between E. jethys and E. mazai. We also observed that the hybrids can affect the levels of genetic diversity in these species. This study remarks the importance of assessing the presence of hybridization in evolutionary studies of closely related species. Introduction Natural hybridization can be defined as the production of viable hybrids from interspecific mating, and introgression as the integration of foreign genetic material from one species into another through backcrossing (Baack and Rieseberg 2007). -

Box 49, Hungary A key for separating sister genera Arcas SWAINSON, 1832 and Theritas HÜBNER, 1818, plus eight nominal species placed in Theritas is given. Three species groups within the latter genus are distinguished. A new species, Theritas gozmanyi BÁLINT et WOJTUSIAK, sp. n. is described form Ecuador. The presence of a discal scent pad on the fore wing dorsal surface and spectral characteristics of the light reflected from the central part of the discal cell were used as charac- ters for discrimination of the new species. Key words: androconial clusters, spectroscopy, structural colours, Theritas species-groups INTRODUCTION The generic name Theritas was established by monotypy for the new species Theritas mavors by HÜBNER (1818). The genus-group name was not in general use until the revision of D’ABRERA (1995), who placed 23 species-group taxa in Theritas on the basis of the character “the pennent-like tail which projects out- wards, and an approximate right angle from, and as a part of, a squared-off projec- tion of the tapered h. -

Durden 2 and Hugh Rose 3 ABSTRACT Three fossil butterflies recently collected from the Green River Shale of Colorado extend the known range of Rhopalocera eight to ten million years back, to 48 Ma. Praepapilio Colorado n. g., n. sp., and P. gracilis n. sp. are primitive Papilionidae related to the modern Baronia brevicornis Salvin, but they require a new subfamily, Praepapilioninae. Riodinella nympha n. g., n. sp. is a primitive member of the Lycaenidae, related to modern Ancyluris, Riodina, and Rhetus, in the tribe Riodinidi. INTRODUCTION With approximately 194,000 living species, the Lepidoptera is, after the Coleoptera with some 350,000, species, the second most diverse order of organisms. It is underrepresented in the fossil record (Scudder 1875, 1891, 1892; Handlirsch 1925;Mackay 1970;Kuhne 1973; Shields 1976). -

In view of the importance of sampling these areas, the present study conducted the first butterfly inventory of a coastal area in the state of Paraná. Samples were taken in the Floresta Estadual do Palmito, from February 2014 through January 2015, using insect nets and traps for fruit-feeding butterfly species. A total of 200 species were recorded, in the families Hesperiidae (77), Nymphalidae (73), Riodinidae (20), Lycaenidae (19), Pieridae (7) and Papilionidae (4). Particularly notable records included the rare and vulnerable Pseudotinea hemis (Schaus, 1927), representing the lowest elevation record for this species, and Temenis huebneri korallion Fruhstorfer, 1912, a new record for Paraná. These results reinforce the need to direct sampling efforts to poorly inventoried areas, to increase knowledge of the distribution and occurrence patterns of butterflies in Brazil.
