Initiative H – Initiative H X Moondog (Sax Pax for a Sax Remix) (2019) [FLAC 24bit/44,1kHz] Initiative H – Initiative H X Moondog (Sax Pax for a Sax Remix) (2019) FLAC (tracks) 24 bit/44,1 kHz | Time – 01:00:51 minutes | 667 MB | Genre: Jazz Studio Masters, Official Digital Download | Front Cover | © Neuklang. Recorded live in the South of France as part of the “”Moondog Season””, the new album from the 13-member Neo-Bigband, Initiative H, highlights the work “”Sax Pax for a Sax”” by composer Moondog, originally recorded by the London Saxophonic in 1994. The arranger and bandleader, David Haudrechy, pays tribute to “”Viking of Sixth Avenue”” with this quivering homage to the magistral work and thus presents an avant-garde project which has long been expected by jazz lovers. We discover the unique and clear encounter between a visionary composer and an adventurous orchestra. The large ensemble, Initiative H, revives Moondog’s unique music and breathes new life into it: remixed, intensified, and modified; even if this meant knocking around the original compositions. This daring explorer, Moondog, paved the way for the admiration of the greatest jazz legends such as Charlie Parker. His experimental work, consisting of modernity and nostalgia, shaped generations of musicians to which David Haudrechy belongs. In this remix and under direction of the legendary Prophet, Initiative H dedicates itself to the task of revealing the modernity of the work, but not by copying it; instead, by performing it in the style of “”Haudrechy””. Founded in 2012 by David Haudrechy, Initiative H took the ambitious challenge to create a dense, modern and passionate music transcending the genres jazz, rock, electro and 20th century music. The powerful sound of this 21st century orchestra is fed by the energy of a big collective project where each musician has ist certain place. The interpretation is masterly, the engagement absolute and the listener will be completely absorbed by the telling power of this music. A musical adventure, human, urban, which makes Initiative H an unavoidable entity of the renovation of the French jazz scene. Considering his passion for surfing, snowboarding and skating, the genre crossover in saxophonist David Haudrechy 700;s music is more than understandable. The thrill, the shiver, the risk, all sensations are also part of the iconic picture of Dark Wave, under the direction and composition of David Haudrechy. He developed his own, liberate, musical language as much inspired by Berlioz and Moussorgski as by Gill Evans, Carla Bley, but also King Crimson and Arvo Pa 776;rt. Unexpected and paradox like in a slalom is the musical process between the different projects surrounding the band. Tracklist: 01. Dog Trot (Live) 02. Paris (Live) 03. Bird’s Lament (Live) 04. Pax like peace or packs, meaning different sized groups within the ensemble, the first "pack" involves 4 saxes, as in Single Foot, the second one using 5 saxes, as in Sandalwood, then seven saxes, as in New Amsterdam, nine saxes in Novette No.1, and so on. Since Louis Hardin is deeply impressed with the achievements of the intrument- builder Antoine Joseph (called Adolphe) Sax who built his first saxophone during the period of 1840/41 he wants to commemorate the centennial of A. Sax´s death (Febr. 4th. ´94) with this CD. All the pieces are part of a series which the composer calls ZAJAZ, "jazz" in two directions, like a Janus-head showing two faces. There is one looking backwards into the past, represented by classical techniques of composing and the other face turn towards the future which is characterized by a new kind of combining old and new elements of music. Music which sounds like jazz, sometimes like real wild improvisations as in Present for the Prez., but is in fact classically conceived, written in the form of chaconne. Most of the pieces are written in canon form, having up to 36 voices as in Well Well Dukel, which has not been recorded yet. The core of the ensemble which has been founded by the leading British saxophonist John Harle are the members of the meanwhile well established Apollo Saxophone Quartet who won important music competitions at home and abroad like the Tokyo International Chamber Music Competition in 1992. Also involved were David Lord as producer, and other big names of British music world, like Peter Hammill and Andrew Davis (former Stackridge member) singing, of Danny Thompson, former Pentangle co-founder, with his contra bass, named Victoria, being especially featured on "D For Danny" which Loius Hardin dedicated to his long-time friend. The piano solos were played by Nicola Meecham, teacher at the Royal Academy Of Music. In Sax's name I'd like to know just what Rollini, Parker, Young and mo'e musicians would have done if there had never been a saxophone to blow. I keep on writing for sopranos, altos, tenors, baritones and bass but not for sopraninos, for they're too-too out of tune to have a place. As much as I would like to use the contra bass, the bass is in the way, condemning me for wanting to allow the lowest of the low to play. I'd like to use them both together, but the bass would argue, "Either or, and if you could accept my good advice, the contra bass you should ignore." 'C melody' would be the only sax I heard at first, and it was played by Bessy Heiner at a dance in Old Wyoming, when I should have stayed. Rccording equipments were installed by TERRA INCOGNITA STUDIO, BATH Mixed by DAVID LORD and Will Gregory at TERRA INCOGNITA.
