JUDICIAL I CLASS MAGISTRATE COURT, KATTAKADA Information under section 4 (1) (b) of the Right Information Act, 2005. I. Organisation, functions and duties:- Judicial I Class Magistrate, Kattakada has criminal jurisdiction over the areas covered under Kattakada, Maranalloor, Vilappilsala, Neyyardam and Malayinkil Police Stations and Excise Range Offices of these Juridiction. The Court handles criminal cases filed within these areas and also cases filed under Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act pertaining to these Jurisdiction. In addition to trial of these cases, it also records statements of witnesses u/s.164 Cr.P.C., as assigned by Chief Judicial Magistrate hears and disposes bail applications and other criminal miscellaneous petitions and conducts magisterial inquiry u/s.174 Cr.P.C. were required.

II. The Powers and Duties of Employees:- 1. Junior Superintendent:-

Junior Superintendent is Chief Ministerial Officer of the Magistrate Court. All the staff in the court are under the supervision of the Junior Superintendent and the control of Presiding Officer. He is the Public Information Officer of the Court. Deals with works relating to Chief Judicial Magistrate Court inspection. Custodian of valuables and maintanance of valuable register. Issuance of Cr.C.D. Cheques. Quarterly Inspection report. Expenditure and other account related statements. Treasury reconciliation of monthly expenditure and receipt. Preparation of Cash Books, TR-5 receipts andStock register and Cr.C.D. Register. File relating to the Confidential Report of employees, R.R. online. 2. Senior Clerk-1 (Establishment Section and Thondy Section):- Maintaing Service Book, Leave account of employees, Fixation of Pay, Preparation of Salary Bills, Contingent Bills, GPF Bills, T.A.Bills of Non-Gazetted and Gazetted Employees. Maintaing of GPF, SLI, GIS, LIC Pass Books. Updation of details in SPARK.

Receival and verification of Thondy items. Entry of Thondy items in Property Register. Disposal of ripe thondy items. Forwarding samples to FSL, Chemical Lab. Forwarding thondy items to appellate Courts. Maintaining thondy room neat and clear. Carry over of Property Register.

3. Senior Clerk-II (FIR Section):- Entry of FIR's in FIR Register. Verification of Charge sheets and filing. Filing of R.C., U.N. and F.R. Cases. Return of defective charge sheets. Maintaining FIR, R.C., U.N. and F.R. Register.

4. Clerk No.1 (Bench Section):- Maintaining A-Diary, CMP Register, Disposal Register, Cause List, L.P. Register and Posting Book. Issue of NBW in LP cases. Preparation of periodical statements relating to Bench Section.

5. Clerk No.II(Record Section):-

Arranging case bundles in year wise manner. Indexing of disposed case records. Destruction of case records. Maintaining record room properly. Despatch work and maintaining Stamp account Register, Deals with appeal and C.P.cases, Maintaining Distribution Register. Issue of process in cases as per order of the Presiding Officer.

6. Clerk No.III (Bench Assistant):- Daily entry of A-Diary in CIS. Assisting day to day work of Bench Section and maintaining Register of all Computers and Photocopy Machine. 7. Typist No.I:- Copying work. Issue of Certified copies. Maintaining A,B,C Registers. Deals the Forms and Registers.

8. Typist No.II:- Deals with Daily typing work and entry of all fresh cases and old cases in the e-court.

9. Confidential Assistant Grade-II:- Deals with normal work of Confidential Assistant. Preparation of Calendar and Non-calendar statements.

10. Office Assistant:-

Assisting all section of the Office.

11. Part-time Sweeper:-

Day to day cleaning work of Office, Court Hall etc.

Touch Screen KIOSKs have been installed in the Court Centre for getting information regarding the case status. The public can also access applicable information under RTI Act or by visiting the Court personally by filling appropriate application.
