Yes, that is a picture of my Aunt Betty, of course never did meet her, but she and my mother looked very much alike. My mother is Shirley Mae Martin and I was looking at the family information and saw that you had entered some of the information and thought that we were connected through marriage. Young is a information and thought that we were connected through marriage. Young is a common name like Jones and I have a good friend that is a Young (maiden name) and married a Young. I really appreciate you sending me a picture of my Aunt Betty. My mother talked a little about her, but not enough information except she died in Texas of a rupture appendix. Family history not a good memory for my mother, who died from the disease of alcohol at the age of 60. She was a sweet lady, would give her shirt off of her back, but suffered from a horrible disease. My parents were divorced when I was 11 and the youngest child was 3 months old. My brothers were 15 and 13. My dad was a contract miner and worked all over the Western states and worked in building the Mormon vaults here in Salt Lake. So we moved quite often and that complicated our ability to see our mother very often. She died in 1984 and I had seen her 3 times from 1961 to 1984. Thank you again.

Member of the Church of England, having been confirmed in Ely Cathedral, near his home of his youth. In 1775 Samuel brought his family to Stockton. He came on a schooner owned by Capt. Benjamin Pendleton. The first winter he lived for awhile with the family of Job Pendleton on Brigadier Island (now known as Sears Island). Mr. Samuel Griffin came here from Stonington, CT. Samuel was a carpenter and mason by trade. He built a home for his family in the wilderness on the Searsport side of Stockton Harbor, now called the Park District, and settled there 11 Apr 1775.

The Griffins were Quakers, so they tried to be friendly with both the Colonial settlers and the British (author notes Samuel nonetheless was in Capt. Lattimore's Company of Militia in 1757).
