These thermal images can be used for texture analysis and deformation caused by moisture and isolation problems. For accurate geometric survey of the deformations, the geometric calibration and performance evaluation of the thermographic camera should be conducted properly. In this study, an approach is proposed for the geometric calibration of the thermal cameras for the geometric survey of deformation caused by moisture. A 3D test object was designed and used for the geometric calibration and performance evaluation. The geometric calibration parameters, including focal length, position of principal point, and radial and tangential distortions, were determined for both the thermographic and the digital camera. The digital image rectification performance of the thermographic camera was tested for photogrammetric documentation of deformation caused by moisture. The obtained results from the thermographic camera were compared with the results from digital camera based on the experimental investigation performed on a study area. • Olympus Has Fallen – Who’S Next?
Olympus has Fallen – Who’s next? In better days – The tough, compact OM-4Ti with the 50mm f1.2 Zuiko was an iconic film SLR of the late 1980s. In a move that will surprise few watchers of the camera industry, Olympus is selling their camera business to Japan Industrial Partners, a private equity group that specializes in helping troubled companies spin off insolvent businesses. JIP is most famous for having bought the VAIO computer business from Sony in 2014, which it spun off as a separate company that sells computers mostly in Japan, although a few models have made it to niche markets in other countries. In the press release, Olympus and JIP claim that the business will continue to make and sell cameras. It is unclear whether or not the Olympus brand name will survive on cameras, or whether that will be retained exclusively by the much larger medical equipment division (Olympus Imaging is about 6% of Olympus, a maker of medical and scientific equipment). The Zuiko and OM-D brands are specifically mentioned in the press release as going to the new company (which has the placeholder name NewCo in the release). Is what they’re calling NewCo in the press release viable? Can anyone run an independent camera company (that, oddly, also makes digital voice recorders) with annual sales of just under 50 billion Yen ($500 million)? It is the sixth largest player in the global interchangeable lens camera market, far behind Canon, Sony, Nikon and Fujifilm. Olympus’ camera business is about 10% the size of Canon’s or Sony’s by revenue, less than 15% the size of Nikon’s, and a little over 1/3 the size of Fujifilm’s.

  • Interaction of Image Noise, Spatial Resolution, and Low Contrast Fine
Interaction of image noise, spatial resolution, and low contrast fine detail preservation in digital image processing Uwe Artmanna and Dietmar Wuellerb a,bImage Engineering, Augustinusstrasse 9d, 50226 Frechen, Germany; ABSTRACT We present a method to improve the validity of noise and resolution measurements on digital cameras. If non-linear adaptive noise reduction is part of the signal processing in the camera, the measurement results for image noise and spatial resolution can be good, while the image quality is low due to the loss of fine details and a watercolor like appearance of the image. To improve the correlation between objective measurement and subjective image quality we propose to supplement the standard test methods with an additional measurement of the texture preserving capabilities of the camera. The proposed method uses a test target showing white Gaussian noise. The camera under test reproduces this target and the image is analyzed. We propose to use the kurtosis of the derivative of the image as a metric for the texture preservation of the camera. Kurtosis is a statistical measure for the closeness of a distribution compared to the Gaussian distribution. It can be shown, that the distribution of digital values in the derivative of the image showing the chart becomes the more leptokurtic (increased kurtosis) the stronger the noise reduction has an impact on the image. Keywords: Noise, Noise Reduction, Texture, Resolution, Spatial Frequency, Kurtosis, MTF, SFR 1. INTRODUCTION ColorFoto is a German photography magazine with a focus on objective and complex tests on digital still camera systems. Since we started testing in 1997, the tests had to be adjusted from time to time to keep track with the development in the camera market, so the test results correlate with the subjective image quality, experienced by the user.
