PURPOSE This Wetland and Riparian Rehabilitation Plan provides rehabilitation and monitoring specifications to mitigate impacts on wetland and riparian areas as a result of construction activities associated with the widening of the N2 and N3 within the eThekwini Municipality, KwaZulu-Natal. Note that it applies to the section of the N3 as far as Key Ridge and the contractor need only apply what is relevant to his section of interest. The specifications have been drawn from the following specialist reports which were undertaken as part of the requirements for the applications for environmental and/or water use authorisations. Ground Truth Water Wetlands and Environmental Engineering (2016). Capacity Upgrades to the N2 (Solomon Mahlangu to south of Umgeni Rd I/C), including expansion of EB Cloete and Solomon Mahlangu Interchanges, and the N3 (EB Cloete to Paradise Valley) including provision of temporary access for construction below Westville and Paradise Valley viaducts. Wetland and Riparian Impact Assessment Specialist Report 2016 Update Ground Truth Water Wetlands and Environmental Engineering (2016). Capacity Upgrades to the N3 (Paradise Valley to Key Ridge) including provision of temporary access for construction below the Umhlatuzana Viaduct. Wetland and Riparian Impact Assessment Specialist Report 2016 Update ACER (Africa) (June 2013).
