Consideration was given to postponing it until 2021 but the group fares for the train journey in 2021 are much higher than in 2020 and this makes the holiday’s selling price unattractive. This holiday is therefore cancelled - with apologies for the disappointment caused - similarly with regard to Thursford below. Thursford - The Thursford Christmas Spectacular is not taking place this year due to social distancing requirements which the organisers cannot meet. Sadly our short break, due to depart on 11 December, will not now be happening. Coach Trips from London Ltd Portmeirion & Coach Trips from London Ltd. Snowdonia Sunday 21 March 2021 for 4 days

An escorted short break tour by luxury coach - coach supplied by Bessway Travel Ltd of Wembley

To stay at Portmeirion out of season is a very special experience. Unlike the season when it is very busy with day trippers, a stay here in late March is truly magical. The loveliness of the natural setting, enhanced by daffofils everywhere, combines with the brilliant architecture of the village itself which was created in the Italian style by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis between 1925 and 1975. Sir Noel Coward wrote Blithe Spirit here. Many other famous people have stayed here too. The hotel restaurant has 2 AA rosettes for the cuisine. We have reserved rooms in the hotel, in the village cottages and in the castle, the latter has a lift. During our stay here there will be trips into the of Portmeirion Snowdonia and across the immensely beautiful Menai Strait to Anglesey. ITINERARY Day 1 (Sunday) We shall set off from West London and travel via the Midlands towards mid and North Wales. Stops will be made for morning coffee and a light lunch. Our route is expected to feature the Severn Valley and Lake Bala. Beyond the latter we shall experience the stunning scenery of the Snowdonia National Park before arriving at Portmeirion by 5.00pm or so. Luggage will be dealt with by the courteous and helpful Portmeirion staff. Those staying in the village will be shown personally to their cottage accom- modation. If you prefer to stay in the hotel or castle please state this when booking. All accommodation is of a very high standard. Dinner at our hotel. Menai Straits Day 2 (Monday) Today a scenic drive through Snowdonia awaits us. We shall pass through Llanberis at the foot of Snowdon before we cross the Menai Strait Plas Newydd to Anglesey to visit to Plas Newydd, a superb National Trust mansion which enjoys glorious views. Its Rex Whistler mural is famous. Dinner at our hotel. Day 3 (Tuesday) This morning a trip on the Welsh Highland narrow gauge steam railway is planned. Fine views of the summit of Snowdon form part of the overall experience. This afternoon will see us in Caernarvon with its impressive castle, scene of the investiture of HRH the Prince of Wales in 1969. Dinner at our hotel this evening. Day 4 (Wednesday) A free morning to explore Portmeirion at leisure, a chance to take a scenic walk beside the estuary or into the woods, and a chance to visit the Portmeirion’s shops. A light lunch will be arranged here at the castle before we commence our homeward journey at 1.30pm. Stops will be arranged for a cup of tea near Shrewsbury and for a 2-course evening meal near Warwick. We expect to be back at Hillingdon by about 9.30pm and at our other set-down points slightly later. We hope this tour will interest you. Welsh Highland Railway

Coach Trips from London Ltd. Harrogate and the Moors & Dales Sunday 23 May 2021 for 4 days

An escorted short break tour by luxury coach - coach supplied by Bessway Travel Ltd of Wembley

Our short break which was based at the famous Old Swan Hotel in Harrogate in 2018 proved very popular. Several people told us that they wished it had been a day longer so this time we shall be staying at the Old Swan for three nights instead of two. It gives us an extra day to explore the scenic Yorkshire Dales and to visit a few of the key attractions on the Yorkshire Moors beyond Helmsley. This very old hotel has impressive public rooms and an abundance of single rooms for which no single supplement is charged. It enjoys a very central location within a short walk of the shops and the attractive Valley Gardens. The famous Betty’s Tea Rooms are also quite near. Harrogate ITINERARY Day 1 (Sunday) We shall set off from West London and travel via the A1 to our coffee stop in Hertfordshire and our lunch stop in delightful Buckden in Cambridgeshire. This afternoon will see us visiting the richly furnished Belton House near Grantham which featured in Pride and Prejudice on BBC tv (the version that featured Colin Firth as Mr Darcy). A National Trust property. Dinner and a three night stay at the Old Swan Hotel, Harrogate. Wensleydale Day 2 (Monday) Today we plan to explore the Dales with visits to Richmond in Swaledale and Askrigg in Wensleydale. Both places were seen in the James Herriot tv series on BBC tv All Creatures Great and Small. At Hawes we shall visit the Wensleydale cheese factory and see Wensleydale cheese being made. There will also be a brief stop to see the Aysgarth Falls. Dinner at our hotel. Day 3 (Tuesday) The splendid North Yorks Moors await us today. Our route will take us via Ripon and Thirsk (where James Herriot had his vetinerary surgery) to the market town of Helmsley. Here you will have an hour to look around and obtain coffee if you wish. Subsequently we shall drive past the ruins of Rievaulx Abbey and through charming Hutton le Hole before we arrive at Pickering. This afternoon you can choose between a ride on a Helmsley North Yorkshire Moors steam train to Goathland (where ITV’s Heartbeat was filmed) or visitCastle Howard, one of England’s most impressive historic houses. It was designed by the playwright and architect Sir John Vanbrugh Castle Howard who also designed Blenheim Palace. Dinner at our hotel this evening. Day 4 (Wednesday) Our final day sees us having the morning at leisure in Harrogate until 12 noon. We shall then commence our homeward journey with a stop at 1.00pm at Nostell Priory near Pontefract where you will be able to obtain a light lunch. This very special National Trust property has an amazing collection of furniture (more than 100 items) designed and supplied by Thomas Chippendale. In addition, the house has interior designs by the brilliant Robert Adam. Subsequently we shall stop in the East Midlands for a 2-course dinner at about 5.30pm.
