PRESS
“Ribbons showcases the strength that a low-budget thriller should have, specifically strong developed lead characters and enough plot twists to feel fresh and keep the audience guessing. It contains serious topics such as PTSD, domestic violence, and drug use, but is best enjoyed as a pulpy thrill ride of the pure independent form.” Cinemacy H. Nelson Tracy
“Matar is a master at handling the tension of this script, ratcheting it up and up and up until you’re sure SOMETHING is bound to blow, and then he ratchets it up a little bit higher. Put simply, I’m not sure I can say enough positive things about Ribbons. Even the soundtrack was excellent, each song catchy and perfect for its placement, but never overpowering any of the scenes. Overall, it’s just a damn good movie made very well by people who know what they’re doing and who have nothing but respect for the process.”
Movie Rewind C. Dennis Moore
"Ribbons has it all, a story that gets your attention right from the start and keeps it all the way to the end, a cast that brings

their characters to life in a realistic and believable way and direction that has you at the edge of your seat wanting to know more. The film also tosses in several twists a long the way to keep the audience off guard. This is a taut psychological thriller that is sure to please.”

DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT
Making this film was the hardest thing I have ever done. Seriously. It pushed me to the edge of what I thought I was capable of mentally, physically and spiritually. It was a true grind, not only for me, but for the entire cast and crew. Our budget was so tight you could bounce a quarter off of it. We had a relentless schedule of

night shoots in harsh desert environments with brutal action sequences and emotionally challenging dialogue.
When the dust finally settled (and there was a lot of dust) making this film changed me. I can't say if the change was for the better or the worse, but I can't wait for the next one to do it all again.
