Re-rating from FTA is pending. Draft EIS published July 2017 available for download at www.hudsontunnelproject.com. Expedited process to be complete in half the time typically needed for projects of this magnitude. Preliminary Engineering led by Amtrak advancing in support of NEPA. • Financial plan in development, preliminary plan submitted as part of FTA rating package • $12.7 billion project accepted into project development pipeline for FTA New Starts grant • Port Authority 10-year Capital Plan includes $2.7 billion commitment to repay federal loans through Gateway Program Development Corporation • Request for Information issued this summer by Gateway Program Development Corp. 15 | Amtrak Corporate Planning HUDSON TUNNEL PROJECT FINANCIAL PLAN • Construction of new tunnel + rehab of existing North River Tunnel + completion of Hudson Yards Concrete Casing • $12.7 billion project cost • Local commitments to date: • $1.9 billion – NJ TRANSIT • $1.9 billion – Port Authority • $1.75 billion – State of NY • Federal share to consist of: • Amtrak • FRA, FTA and/or other federal grants • Construction start: 2019 or sooner 16 | Amtrak Corporate Planning THE GATEWAY PROGRAM WILL DELIVER… Preservation and Resiliency Replacement of century-old critical infrastructure Preservation of existing NEC service to Penn Station New York Protection from weather-related and man- made events Capacity Roughly double trans-Hudson capacity (approx. 48 trains/hr) Elimination of two-track bottleneck at busiest point on Northeast Corridor Redundancy for stable operations 17 | Amtrak Corporate Planning THANK YOU!
