Mars) and in Navamsha Though It Is Occupying Another Kendra in Rāshi of His Friend Shukra (Venus), He Is Afflicted by Rahu Conjunct There
Budha (Mercury) Budha means the intelligent, clever or a wise man in Sanskrit. It is also the name of one of the nine grahas whose movement affects human beings as well as nations and weather conditions that are the subject matter of the divine science known as Vedic Astrology. Hindu mythology (Puranas) tells that Budha (Mercury) is the illegitimate son of Chandra (Moon) out of Tara who was Guru’s (Jupiter) wife. The Puranas tell us that Chandra was enamored of Tara the wife of Guru and seduced her when she was taking a walk in a garden. Tara is then said to have eloped with Chandra. On being asked by Guru to return his wife, Chandra refused to do so. Thereupon Guru sought help of other Gods who waged war against Chandra but Chandra who was helped by Shukra (Venus) defeated them. Then Guru sought help of Lord Shiva who set out to fight Chandra. Lord Brahma, who treats Chandra as his son, knew that this war would end in annihilation of Chandra and therefore went to Chandra and prevailed upon him to return Tara to Guru, thus avoiding war. Chandra relented and returned Tara who started living with Guru. However Tara was pregnant by that time and gave birth to Budha at Guru’s place. On being confronted, she accepted that Budha was son of Chandra. However Budha was so handsome, sharp, capable of grasping thing fast, and intelligent that Guru decided to accept him as his own son and taught him all the shastras (sciences), which Budha absorbed in a short time. -

All the physiological processes in the body are well functioning and whose soul, senses, mind are full of bliss.Human body is made up of Sapta Dhatus and Shukra Dhatu is seventh among Sapta Dhatu. Among Sapta Dhatu, Shukra Dhatu is considered as the Sara of all other Dhatus. As every Dhatu is located in the entire part of the body, Shukra Dhatu also occupies the whole body. All Dhatus have their definite location in the body without any sexual discrimination. So Shukra Dhatu being one among Sapta Dhatu is present in both the sexes. Therefore, this study was taken into consideration which has main objective to review the concept of presence of Shukra Dhatu in the body without any sexual discrimination and to understand different terminology explained in different Ayurvedic classical texts such as Shukra Dhatu, Shukra, Stree Shukra etc. -

Shukra – Neeti the Teachings of Guru Sukracharya [ Brief from the Mahabharata ]
[email protected] SHUKRA – NEETI THE TEACHINGS OF GURU SUKRACHARYA [ BRIEF FROM THE MAHABHARATA ] Introduction : Guru Shukracharya He was born as the son of Rishi Brighu and his wife Ushana. The feminic natured Shukra is a Brahminical planet. He was born on Friday in the year Paarthiva on Sraavana Suddha Ashtami when Swathi Nakshatra is on the ascent. Hence, Friday is known as Shukravaar in Indian languages especially Sanskrit, Hindi, Marathi , Gujarati and Kannada. He went on to study Vedas under rishi Angirasa but he was disturbed by Angirasa's favouritism to his son Brihaspati. He then went to study under rishi Gautama. He later performed penance to Lord Shiva and obtained the Sanjivani mantra (a hymn that can revive the dead). During this period Brihaspati became the Guru (Preceptor) of the divine people Devaa. Out of jealousy, Shukracharya decides to become the Guru of Asuras. He helps them achieve victory over the Devas and uses his magic to revive the dead and wounded Asuras. [email protected] In one story, Lord Vishnu is born as the Brahmin sage Vamana. Vamana comes to take the three worlds as alms from the asura King Bali. Lord Vishnu wanted to deceive the King Bali who was the grandson of the great ing Prahlad, in order to help the Devas. The sage Shukracharya identifies him immediately and warns the King. The King is however a man of his word and offers the gift to Vamana. Shukracharya, annoyed with the pride of the King, shrinks himself with his powers and sits in the spout of the vase, from which water has to be poured to seal the promise to the deity in disguise. -
Shani on the Web: Virality and Vitality in Digital Popular Hinduism
religions Article Shani on the Web: Virality and Vitality in Digital Popular Hinduism Varuni Bhatia School of Arts and Sciences, Azim Premji University, Bengaluru, Karnataka 560100, India; [email protected] Received: 10 August 2020; Accepted: 3 September 2020; Published: 6 September 2020 Abstract: What do god posters circulating online tell us about the practice of popular Hinduism in the age of digital mediatization? The article seeks to address the question by exploring images and god posters dedicated to the planetary deity Shani on Web 2.0. The article tracks Shani’s presence on a range of online platforms—from the religion and culture pages of newspapers to YouTube videos and social media platforms. Using Shani’s presence on the Web as a case study, the article argues that content drawn from popular Hinduism, dealing with astrology, ritual, religious vows and observances, form a significant and substantial aspect of online Hinduism. The article draws attention to the specific affordances of Web 2.0 to radically rethink what engaging with the sacred object in a virtual realm may entail. In doing so, it indicates what the future of Hindu religiosity may look like. Keywords: digital Hinduism; god posters; Shani; Hindu images; Hinduism and mediatization The power of digital media impinges on everyday life in contemporary times with ever-increasing scope and intensity. The unfolding COVID-19 pandemic has brought this fact into sharper relief than, perhaps, ever before. Needless to say, this enhanced digitality has also permeated the sphere of religion and religious rituals. How different religions reformulate ritual practices in the light of the pandemic and the theological and doctrinal implications of such reformulations is a topic for a different discussion. -

The Hindu science of study of these planets is called the Vedic Astrology. Classical Vedic astrology uses the seven visible planets Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn, along with the two lunar nodes, the north and south nodes, Rahu and Ketu. The Hindu astrology is based on an elaborate calculation of the positions of these planets at the time of one's birth. For example, the zodiac is divided in to twelve zones ('houses' of 30 degrees each). The planet Sun travels in to one of these houses each month. Similarly, the other planets have their times of travel through the zodiac assigned to them. As the planets travel through these zodiac signs, their relative positions with respect to each other changes and is supposed to determine the fate of the human affairs. An astrologer can draw up a horoscope of a person based on his time of birth and calculate the relative positions of the planets relative to this horoscope. -

A Fresh Perspective on the Astronomy of the Mahabharata
ISBN: 978-1-9051860-1-3 © Dr Manish Pandit 2019 !ii Dedicated To My Gurus and Divine Mother Kali !i Foreword 3067BCE: A Fresh Perspective on the Astronomy of the Mahabharata I made the film “Krishna: History or Myth” in 2008 after a set of severe arguments on the subject of the historicity of Sri Krishna and Sri Rama, one of which was with a junior doctor when working as a surgeon in 2002 in the West Midlands. I had come across several pieces of research which claimed to corroborate the astronomy of the Mahabharata war. Amongst these were the research by PV Vartak, (5561BCE) a senior MBBS doctor residing in Pune who I have had the pleasure of meeting years ago in Pune, the research by Dr Narahari Achar from Memphis (3067BCE), Balakrishna and Sengupta (2449BCE) among others. I never wanted to really make a film on the subject, but nobody else was willing, partly due to the cost involved in the shooting of such a film (those were the days when digital film cameras were only just about becoming affordable) and of the course nobody wanted to take the risk of making a film which most Indian, English language, Hinduphobic channels would not show. I also had to check and see which piece of research was actually true: 5561BCCE, 3067BCE, 3139BCE, 3043BCE or indeed 1478BCE or 2449BCE among others. It took me a lot of time to go through the various pieces of research from 2004 to 2007 and eventually after taking great care to !ii exclude the wrong pieces of research, I sat down and corroborated the research on Redshift.
