Dean, UC Irvine Law School Candidates for City Attorney to Face Off at February Breakfast he Executives are excited to announce that the February breakfast program T will feature a debate between the three major candidates for Los Angeles City Attorney. The breakfast, scheduled for Thursday, February 5 at El Caballero Country Club, will begin with social time at 7:00 a.m. with the program beginning at 7:30 a.m. The debate will be moderated by Eric Kingsley. Deputy Los Angeles City Attorney Michael R. Amerian has devoted his career to fighting on Los Angeles’ front lines against gang crimes, domestic violence, and other crimes that threaten our quality of life. Through the successful prosecution of hundreds of cases, he has protected our neighborhoods and won hundreds of thousands of dollars in damages on behalf of crime victims. Prior to his service in the City Attorney’s Office, Michael was an attorney in private practice and also served as a law clerk for United States District Court Judge Dickran Tevrizian. Carmen Trutanich grew up in San Pedro. He attended the S ANGELES JEWISH HOME S University of Southern California and graduated with a business administration degree and obtained his Masters Degree in Business Administration also from USC. Carmen later graduated from South Bay University College of Law, passed the bar and opened a small practice in San Pedro. Carmen has excelled as a Deputy District Attorney. When the new District Attorney was elected he was transferred to his new start up Signature Division, the Environmental Crimes/OSHA Division. Jack Weiss (invited but not confirmed) was elected to the 5th District of the City Council in June 2001 and reelected on March 8, 2005. The district includes parts of the San Fernando Valley and West Los Angeles. A former federal prosecutor, Jack Weiss works to ensure that police policies and practices reflect modern standards. As Chair of the Council’s Public Safety Committee, he is leading the effort to grow the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) to 10,000 officers and he strives to achieve meaningful police reform. Once again The Executives took first place in fundraising by a support group, raising more than $25,000.
