As an update to the protocols for holding public Mass in the Archdiocese of St. Louis, Archbishop Mitchell Rozanski has mandated that masks are required for entry into archdiocesan parishes and must be worn during the entirety of the Mass ex- cept at the moment of receiving Holy Commun- ion. While the rector is aware of the various argu- ments for and against the wearing of masks, he encourages the faithful to make their best effort in this matter, so that we may be able to continue providing you with uninterrupted access to the Sacraments. TEXT "CORDA" to 84576 Sunday, May 2: St. Martha Pipe Organ Update

After many long months, fundraising efforts for the Phase I installation of our Wilhelm Organ is complete! Because of your sacrifices, particularly during this past Passiontide, we have reached the $375,000 to settle all of our current obligations regarding the purchase and installation.

Permit me to thank you again for your generosity and devotion to our mission here at St. Francis de Sales Ora- tory. We have received emails, letters and cards expressing your satisfaction with the project.

Several of our friends and benefactors have desired to know now that Phase I is finished, what will Phase II consist of. These inquiries are just, as our project did not start out comprising a Phase I and Phase II under- standing.

From the beginning of the project, an initial budget of $400,000 was set for the purchase, installation, related choir loft improvements and promotion of our organ once installed. My tenure at St. Francis de Sales Oratory started as the project was under way. The efforts begun by Canon Wiener were continued until Spring of 2020 when the covid-19 pandemic upended all of our lives.

It became apparent at that point that the organ installation could be completed. However, the original series of concerts planned with guest organists for its inauguration could not proceed in any meaningful or appropriate fashion. Desiring to bring some closure to what was becoming an extended campaign, and after consulting with members of our organ committee, I decided to split our original project into two parts: Phase I and Phase II. The Phase I goal consisted of finishing the purchase and installation which had the most immediate conse- quences for our efforts. This left a certain amount of latitude for initiating Phase II according to the progres- sion or regression of covid-19 related restrictions.

Our goal for Phase II is $25,000. This will complete the $400,000 originally foreseen by Canon Wiener and the committee. This budget will cover any leftover details to be completed in the choir loft as well as any costs that will be incurred for the inaugural concert series.

As of now, there is no specific date set for the beginning of our concert series. Once it becomes clear that civil and archdiocesan covid-19 restrictions relax, to the extent that we can have a safe and meaningful series of concerts, we will proceed with contacting guest organists to execute the grand finale of this important Oratory project.

Until then, I implore your patience. In the meantime, please pray in thanksgiving for the success of our project thus far, as well as for a speedy end to the pandemic and its effects so that we may proceed to the full comple- tion originally envisioned. We continue to receive donations for the organ project here at the Oratory. All or- gan donations from now on will be counted towards the final $25,000 and used only for this purpose.

We will keep you informed as new information becomes available for our progress. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

Wishing You a Blessed Paschaltide,

Canon Coggeshall

Canon Coggeshall and the faithful of St. Francis de Sales Oratory welcome you, and hope that your time in the “Cathedral of South St. Louis” may be an opportunity to share in the tradition of the Roman Catholic Faith.

Please enjoy the beauty of this building dedicated to St. Francis de Sales, co-patron of the INSTITUTE OF CHRIST THE KING SOVEREIGN PRIEST.

According to liturgical tradition, and the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite, Holy Communion is received kneeling and on the tongue. All visitors who are not of the Catholic faith are welcome to join us in prayer, but are requested not to receive Holy Communion. Because the reception of Holy Communion is the sign of Divine and Ecclesial unity, only practicing Catholics who are free of mortal sin, and in full communion with the should present themselves for Holy Communion.

We pray for the full visible unity among all Christians.
