In our endeavor to recognize and appreciate the hard work of every player and support staff, the Hockey India 2nd Annual Awards carried total prize money of over INR 2.00 Crores. Besides the main categories, special focus was laid this year on giving recognion to rising talent and individual achievements. My sincere wishes go to the winners of the Hockey India 2nd Annual Awards 2015. I would also like to congratulate the Senior Men’s team for an astonishing performance at the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup Malaysia and returning with the Silver Medal. For me the victory lies in the overall improved performance of the team. They marked an emphac win against host country Malaysia and Pakistan. Apart from the seasoned players, I am really impressed by the young lads and the zeal they add to the team. Here again wishing the team good luck for the upcoming Champions Trophy in London, I am confident that will put forth a good show. Most importantly, I believe grassroots development and administraon are always the core of success. I would like to congratulate all the teams who parcipated in the 6th Hockey India Naonal Championship, I was thrilled to witness such passion and great performances by the talent we have in every corner of the country.

Hockey India hosted the 35th edion of Champions Trophy in Bhubaneswar from December 6-14. While Germany was the winner, the Indian team fared well and was placed fourth in the Tournament. Players from the Indian squad were also recognised for their outstanding performance during the tournament. My congratulaons to P R Sreejesh for winning the Tata Steel Best Goalkeeper of the tournament, Akashdeep Singh for MCL Best Junior Player of the tournament, Sardar Singh for NALCO Fan's Choice and S V Sunil for Cairn India Most Energec Player awards. The team had won the Indo-Australia series in Perth earlier in November. The Indian Junior Women Hockey Team also played a six match series against New Zealand which was followed by the Senior Women team who were a tough compeon to Italy. India's Junior Men Team stood tall against Australia, Japan and New Zealand in Australia which is a great achievement. In its endeavour to produce and nurture young talent, Hockey India also recently announced the launch of its 'Online Academy Plaorm' to guide the young talent. The iniave is a comprehensive programme aimed at helping young aspirants to learn the new tricks, strategies and development in the game. Hockey India also announced the 'Hockey India Annual Awards' from the current year for the most promising and potent players from the current as well as upcoming teams.

    P-1 Vol-10, 1 Jul - 10 Aug 2014 XX Commonwealth Games 2014 Special Edition At the outset on behalf of Hockey India, I would like to congratulate the Indian Men Hockey Team for their performance in the recently concluded XX Commonwealth Games 2014 at Glasgow and making the country proud by winning the Silver Medal. The Indian Hockey Teams are improving day by day, it was evident during India’s matches with its higher ranked teams in the Commonwealth Games. Though, the Women’s Team was not able to have a podium finish, their performance against higher ranked team was much appreciative. The continuous efforts being put in by all stakeholders will ensure that we see both the Men and Women Teams on the podium in the next Commonwealth Games In our constant effort to uplift hockey at grass root level, Hockey India has further appointed Mr. Sukhvir Singh Grewal as Manager, High Performance (North Zone), this is in addition to the earlier appointment of Manager, High Performance (South Zone). We welcome Hockey Patiala and Kerala Hockey in our Hockey family as Associate Members and I also congratulate the newly elected office bearers of our three state member units who have recently conducted their elections. Friends, the next one and a half months are going to be very important for our Men’s and Women’s team. The teams will be participating in the 17th Asian Games 2014 at Incheon, South Korea where they will further show their strengths. I would like to convey my heartiest gratitude to all the stakeholders for their contributions in the preparations of the teams for the forthcoming Asian Games.
