From April to October 2015, the buses will connect the Romantic Road, Germany’s most famous and popular holiday route, with the international gateways of Frankfurt am Main and Munich. As there are no direct rail links, and only a few towns and villages can be reached by train, the bus with its ‘hop on – hop off’ concept, which is tried and tested across the world, offers the ideal way of organising one's own individual voyage of discovery along the Romantic Road. Daily from 10th April to 21st October 2015 the bus departs daily at 8 a.m. from Frankfurt and Füssen, and 10.30 a.m. from Munich and, according to the direction travelled, it first passes by the Prince Bishops’ Residence in Würzburg, goes along past the vineyards in the Tauber Valley, to Bad Mergentheim, Weikersheim and Rothenburg ob der Tauber. There is a break for lunch in the mediaeval town of Dinkelsbühl, followed by stops in Nördlingen and Augsburg before arriving in the Bavarian State Capital, Munich. From here, it carries on towards the world famous royal castles of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau with a photo stop at the Wieskirche church, which is one of UNESCO’s world heritage sites on the Romantic Road, together with the ‘Limes’ near to Dinkelsbühl and the former Prince Bishops’ Residence in Würzburg. Tickets can be reserved and paid for on the internet, travellers can take as many breaks in the journey as they wish and tickets are valid for 6 months. If requested, the Romantic Road sales office will also plan an individual trip with the Europabus, including both the journey and accommodation in the desired category, a programme of visits and any other wishes the customer may have. For active holidaymakers, there are also special cycling and hiking packages available, where luggage is transported and an emergency number supplied in case of problems. Book Review & Giveaway: The Bus Ride by Joanie Chevalier. The Bus Ride: A Zany Busnapping Adventure. When Devon discovers his car stolen, he must find transportation to get to his destination before the deadline to get what’s rightfully his: the urn containing one-fifth of his deceased momma. He hops on Bus No. 255 and changes the course of the route. As the passengers’ personalities and needs emerge, they go from being strangers to a bonded family within hours as they fight for each other, and themselves… in more ways than one. Funny and sentimental, this story will grab your heart as you cheer everyone on Bus Route No. 255, maybe even the busnapper. Meet the passengers on Bus No. 255, an unlikely group of people who have no choice but to try to get along and survive when their bus gets busnapped. Meet Devon, who has a deadline he must meet, or risk losing what’s his; Doug, a dreamer of a better life, but first must face a sad truth; Frankie, a life full of loneliness, but unexpectedly becomes a hero; Gloria, a woman who finds validation in the most unexpected place; Autumn, a girl who desires a family, and a sense of belonging; Dave, a man seeking justice and equality, learns to love himself as he is; and the Garcia family, whose family ties brings them to the brink of danger. Follow these passengers as they each fulfill their destinies, together. My Review. I chose to read this book after receiving a free e-copy. All opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased. Doug drives a bus and works a lot of overtime to try to give his greedy wife the lifestyle she demands. When his bus is “busnapped” one day, he doesn’t really mind. Every person on the bus that day has issues of his or her own. I like how the reader learns about each person as the story unfolds. At the beginning of each chapter, the day and time are listed so that you know if it’s today on the bus or previously – usually yesterday or earlier today. By the end of the book, all of the characters have been developed, and even the busnapper is endearing. I found myself wanting the best for each person. The bus trip changes the lives of every passenger on the bus. Even though there is some danger and even though the people on the bus have big problems, the story is written in a lighthearted way which made it even more enjoyable. One of my favorite parts is the end when the outcome for each person is told. I definitely recommend The Bus Trip . About the Author. I ride the bus because it’s good for the environment. & it makes for a smaller carbon footprint. & it helps me afford my month-to-month rent. But truly none of that is it. I try to ride every day. Because it’s the slowest f-ing way. To get from point A. & slowness is good for me. Never ride the bus if you’re in a hurry. I ride because it gives me time to connect with me. It’s on the bus my mind wanders free. Indulging every thought I have, however unnecessary. Because finding time for the unnecessary is necessary. I ride the bus because it puts me beside. A stranger, a group of strangers, if just for one ride. We are people who live in circles so distant. That we may have no other commonality significant. & would never see one another’s face. If not for the bus, our one common space. It reminds me that we all coexist. A thought that’s too often too easily dismissed. I ride the bus because everything is moving too fast. & riding reminds me of our communal past. Where we leaned on our neighbor. & had faith in strangers. & saw health for all as a worthwhile labor. Before the Internet, cell phones, Facebook & Twitter. Diluted friendships to meaningless chatter. I’m happy I found the bus. & believe I’m privileged to ride. In the past three years without a car. Just the bus & my bike. I can only imagine how much of an impact it’s made. My work has benefitted as much as my soul. As each day I take time, am mindful, & appreciate people. Hi there!
