Mission Statement: GATHERED to worship, TRANSFORMED by Christ, SENT out to serve. Vision Statement: Jesus calls us to GROW as disciples, to GIVE generously, and to SERVE others every day. Calvary Lutheran Church, ELCA 2508 Washington Ave. SE Bemidji, MN 56601 (218) 751-1893 · Fax (218) 444-5894 [email protected] www.calvarybemidji.org Senior Pastor Rev. Genelle Netland [email protected] Associate Pastor Rev. Andrew Ronnevik [email protected] Our congregation has a tradition of honoring God with our financial gifts by filling out a Spiritual Associate Pastor of Youth and Family Financial Pledge each year. These are personal commitments to what you and your household are Rev. Nate Bendorf going to give to support the general operating budget for the mission and ministry that God has called [email protected] Calvary to do. Our leadership feels it is important to ask each household to prayerfully consider what Visitation Pastoral Team they would like to give to the church because this is part of being a disciple of Jesus. It is important Vicar Anne Meredith-Will to know that no one ever looks at these pledges. In other words, our leadership does not use these [email protected] numbers to create a budget, rather our congregation votes on our budget at the congregational annual Rev. Bill Beyer meeting. When you have committed your pledge, they are held in a box until mid-year and then mailed Almina Beyer (A.I.M.) back to the households that made their commitment as a reminder of what they intended to do. These [email protected] commitments will be made on Sunday, November 22 in all worship services. It is both our duty and our Children’s Ministry Director delight to share the money God has entrusted to us for the glory of God. THE BRIDGE When visiting my parents this past August in Minneapolis, I to New Life in Ministry decided to take my mom to the Minnesota State Fair on Labor Day, the busiest day they have ever had in the history of the State Fair. loves the State Fair, and it was a beautiful day. We took the City Bus and it was packed with fair goers. On our way , I made sure we got on the bus early so that my elderly mother would have a seat. As the bus packed with passengers, the seats filled up. The bus took off and there was a young couple up front who had to stand because all the seats were full. The petite mom was holding her young baby and struggling to hold on to her and hold on to the pole to steady herself. I watched with anticipation to see if any of the young, vibrant passengers sitting directly around her would offer up their seat to her. They did not. Even though it seemed obvious to me, that someone needed to give up their seat, no one did. I finally stood up and walked over to the young mother and offered her my seat next to my 83 year old mom. This young mother smiled at me with relief and quickly Thank you to all those who made Reformation Sunday a sat down. Such a simple gesture.
