Seller Insight Nestled in three acres of stunning gardens and grounds is Shobley House, an elegant six-bedroom period home that occupies a coveted location within the New Forest National Park. “It was actually my sister who found the house; my husband and I weren’t looking to move at the time, but one Christmas when the whole family was sitting around the table playing cards she suddenly produced a sheet of paper with the details of Shobley on it and announced, ‘I picked this up for you’,” says the owner. “It captured my husband’s imagination immediately so we all decided it wouldn’t hurt to take a look, and I have to say we – in fact, the whole family – fell in love with it the minute we laid eyes on it. That was almost forty years ago and in all that time we’ve been exceptionally happy here.” “It’s such a pretty house and incredibly light and bright throughout, and it has some gorgeous features including the beautiful Edwardian windows, the likes of which I’ve never seen before. It’s also a real family home and has been the venue for so many wonderful occasions. At Christmas we regularly have twenty-four for lunch, and in the evening, when the children were much younger, they would disappear upstairs to dress up then all pile down and put on a show. We also held carol concerts in the drawing room and while we were running our business the house, and indeed our beautiful grounds, provided a really elegant backdrop to lots of formal functions. It’s a place that is filled with so many wonderful memories.” “One of the things that I love is the fact that the majority of the rooms are dual aspect and the house is completely enveloped by our stunning gardens and grounds so the views are just lovely,” continues the owner, “and the outside space is yet another standout feature. We have around one and a half acres of formal gardens and around the same amount again of beautiful woodland, which creates this wonderful barrier between us and the rest of the world so we enjoy complete and utter privacy. It’s a gorgeous place to just sit and relax, and it was also a really magical place for the children to grow up in, and our grandchildren love it so much that they’ll spend the whole of their summer here, which is lovely. As I said, it’s a real family home and we’re going to be so very sad to leave.” “All of the rooms are lovely, but the drawing room is the one that holds the most memories. The children put on their shows in there, it was the venue for our annual carol concerts and day to day it’s a very tranquil room to just sit and relax in.”* * These comments are the personal views of the current owner and are included as an insight into life at the property. We feel very lucky living here as it’s a place where we can enjoy just about everything. We have mile upon mile of beautiful open countryside right on the doorstep, we’re within the New Forest National Park so it’s a fantastic place for walking, and we’re just a short drive from the beach. We also have an array of well-served towns and villages within easy reach so all of our day-to- day needs are catered for. What more could you want?” I can honestly say that we’re going to miss absolutely everything about Shobley,” says the owner. “It has been the most wonderful family home and it’s filled with nothing but incredibly happy memories. It’s been a very special place to call home.” Adjacent to the house we have a lovley self-contained annex (pictured above). It has three bedrooms plus a shower room and we currently use it as a home office, but it could be ideal for visiting guests or perhaps a great Airbnb. The annex was initially installed to provide office facilities for our training consultancy, housing seven workstations. Ringwood is well known as home of the Ringwood Brewery, as well as the old cattle market which has been transformed into a stylish shopping quarter featuring names such as Aga, Hobbs, Joules, Waitrose and Waterstones whilst also hosting a programme of events, including live music and farmers’ markets. The high street has retained its character, holding a weekly market and being home to a new artisan bakery and a variety of decent eateries. Families are attracted by the sense of community and the highly regarded secondary school. The larger town of Bournemouth is approx. 13 miles away and offers a wide range of shops and eateries. The mainline train station at Southampton provides a direct line service to London Waterloo. Outside The property is approached from a country lane via double electric gates. The sweeping gravel driveway leads to a detached double garage with a pair of electric doors and an adjoining workshop. There is also a detached self-contained annex located between the double garage and the main house, which is currently used as an office and visitor accommodation. The grounds extend to approx. 3 acres and are made up of formal landscaped gardens and a natural woodland area. There is a range of fruit and mature trees and even a shingled path leading to a bluebell wood which is prominent in early Spring. There is a stunning mature eucalyptus tree, Camellias, Oak trees and mature shrubs.
