ISU World Figure Skating Ice Dance silver medalists Victoria Sinitsina/Nikita Katsapalov (RUS) have just won their first ISU Grand Prix gold medal at Shiseido Cup of China last week and want to seal their spot.     April 13, 2021 Osaka, Japan Top six Figure Skating teams get ready for ISU World Team Trophy 2021 Some of the World’s best Figure Skaters are set to compete at the seventh edition of the ISU World Team Trophy in Figure Skating from April 15 to 18 in Osaka, Japan. Russia tops the list of the six ISU members that have qualified for the ISU World Team Trophy in Figure Skating. The ISU World Team Trophy is a biennal event. Overview over the teams Russia collected 9847 points towards the qualification followed by the USA (8001 points) and Japan with 6441 points. The other directly qualified ISU Members are Canada (5580) and Italy (4021). China was qualified with 4537 points but does not send a team allowing France (3905 points) to compete instead. Team Russia features three newly minted ISU World Figure Skating Champions Anna Shcherbakova, Anastasia Mishina/Aleksandr Galliamov and Victoria Sinitsina/Nikita Katsalapov. 2021 ISU World Figure Skating silver medalist Elizaveta Tuktamysheva is the team captain. 2018 ISU World Figure Skating bronze medalist Mikhail Kolyada and Evgeni Semenenko are competing as well. Three-time and reigning ISU World Figure Skating Champion Nathan Chen leads Team USA. The team includes top-ten ISU World competitors Jason Brown, Karen Chen, Bradie Tennell, Alexa Knierim/Brandon Frazier and Kaitlin Hawayek/Jean-Luc Baker. Brown is the team captain. Two-time Olympic Champion and current ISU World Figure Skating bronze medalist Yuzuru Hanyu as well as 2018 Olympic silver medalist Shoma Uno headline Team Japan. Two-time ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Champion Rika Kihira, Kaori Sakamoto, Pair Skaters Riku Miura/Ryuichi Kihara and Ice Dancers Misato Komatsubara/Tim Koleto complete the team.

    April 16, 2021 Osaka, Japan Free Dance and Pairs wins extend Russia's advantage at ISU World Team Trophy Team Russia built on their lead as the ISU World Team Trophy in Figure Skating continued on Friday in Osaka with the Pairs Short Program, Free Dance and Men’s Free Skating. The Russians now have 91 points and are closing in on their first World Team Trophy win. Team USA follows in second place with 83 points, while Team Japan is third on 78 points. The highlight of Russia’s dominant day two came with reigning ISU Ice Dance World Champions Victoria Sinitsina/Nikita Katsalapov, who won the Free Dance with a beautiful dance to “Songs My Mother Taught Me”. The 2020 European Champions collected a level four for five elements to score 130.15 points and 12 team points. New ISU World Champions Anastasia Mishina/Aleksandr Galliamov also contributed 12 team points with their victory in the Pairs Short Program. Their triple twist and throw triple Lutz were excellent, however Galliamov doubled the side by side Salchow (73.77 points). Russia picked up additional points in the Men’s Free Skating, with Mikhail Kolyada and Evgeni Semenenko delivering strong performances to finish third and fifth respectively. Kolyada’s balletic program to “The White Crow” was highlighted by two quadruple toeloops and triple Axels (180.72 points/10 team points). Semenenko landed a quad toe and Salchow (166.33 points/8 team points). “All of our team members, the dancers, the pair, the boys, skated great and achieved the best possible placement for them.
