We are delighted to announce that the IH Young Learner Conference will be hosted by IH Reggio Calabria on the 9th and 10th March 2018! This conference is held every year for the YL Coordinators and DOSs in our network and the programme focuses on trends, management issues and approaches relating to the teaching of Young Learner students.
Reggio Calabria is a medium-sized town located in the sunny South of Italy, just across from Sicily. The town is off the typical tourist trail but being situated within easy reach of both mountains and sea, it offers a variety of interesting places to visit, including the local Museum which houses the world-famous “Bronzi di Riace”.
You will be hearing more from the team at IH Reggio in the coming weeks, as they are eager tell you about their school and city and how they plan to make the 2018 YL conference a fantastic experience!
In the meantime though, to help you plan ahead, they have sent some important information about travel and accommodation options so you can start to plan your trip.
The programme of the conference will be as in recent years.
Thursday 8th March - Arrival and Welcome Reception in evening
Friday 9th March – Full conference day, dinner together in the evening
Saturday 10th March – Full conference day, dinner together in the evening
Sunday 11th March – Local tourism option, further details to be provided by school
Our hosts have negotiated some very good deals with local hotels that are all well placed within the city. The second day of the conference (Saturday) will be hosted at the school, which you can also see on the map provided. The first day (Friday) will be at another venue in the city centre, so which ever hotel you choose you won’t have far to walk. But if you want to be near the school then Hotel Continental and Hotel Excelsior are the closest options.
Just a reminder, there is no conference fee to attend but the maximum number of delegates per school is 2 for budgetary reasons.

GETTING HERE
Flights to and from Reggio Calabria are run by:

Reggio Calabria airport is a short bus ride (or 10-minute drive) from the city centre.
The other nearest airports are in Lamezia Terme and Catania Fontanarossa, where there are a range of connections to Reggio Calabria.
