Situated in Valencia County on the east bank of the Rio Grande River, Bosque Farms enjoys a unique location with a rural residential atmosphere, yet with convenient access to the largest urban community, "Albuquerque, New Mexico. Just a short twenty-minute drive from Bosque Farms to Albuquerque puts you in one of the "hottest" cities in America, according to a Newsweek magazine survey. A twenty minute drive back returns you to a community where traditional values are today's values, where the individual is important, where you can drive down a modern main street and see horseback riders along the river.

Despite this proximity, Bosque Farms will never be swept up in urban sprawl. A unique geographic barrier, the Isleta Indian Reservation permanently divides Bosque Farms from Albuquerque, The reservation, a major contributor to our history and heritage, allows the Village to enjoy its relationship with the city, yet remain independent.

The population of the Village is now estimated around 5,000. Growth and development in Bosque Farms has progressed since the incorporation in 1974 and has brought about significant changes to the community. Bosque Farms has the choice rural living of New Mexico for horse lovers and community functions involving horseback riding, a rodeo arena, 4-H clubs and horse shows. Bosque Farms Elementary is located in the northeastern part ofthe Los Lunas School District. The school site lies a few miles south of the Isleta Reservation. It is located in the heart ofthe Village of Bosque Farms. Bosque Farms Elementary is rich in its history and parent involvement. The school is home for 376 students that range froin pre-kindergarten to fourth grade.

The school, originally built ofadobe in 1936, has a library which highlights the orginal adobe and viga construction. The school has been remodeled to include ten additional classroolns. With the exception ofthe additional classrooms there is no room to expand the available classroom space at this site. The school is land locked and is liinited in the enrolhnent that can be served.
