    March 2013 Issue 155 The Official Newspaper of The RFU This will be achieved by delivering a package of resource PRINCE HARRY within the school, linked to the local club that helps it to start and sustain playing rugby union, including kit and equipment, as well as coaching and young leaders training. PATRON OF RFU’S Canterbury is the first partner to support All Schools, becoming the Official Partner for the programme. As part of its involvement, each school taking part in the initiative ALL SCHOOLS was given the opportunity to attend one of a number of Canterbury kit design workshops last year. The 100 PROGRAMME participating state schools designed their own team rugby shirt, whilst learning about the core values of rugby, the pride associated with the shirt and the importance of colours, logos and emblems. Canterbury has turned these drawings into final bespoke designs to be proudly worn by the school’s rugby team. The colourful jerseys produced for the schools were presented for the first time at Twickenham; seen during the RBS 6 Nations England v Italy match as 100 children from across England represented their school on the pitch before kick off, flanking the military bringing out the giant England shirt and at half time.     October 2012 Issue 150 The Official Newspaper of The RFU and RFUW ENGLAND CONNECTED Nicola Marshall Drybrook RFC in Gloucestershire, a club that embodies community rugby, recently played host to the eagerly anticipated Canterbury kit launch. Hundreds of members of the local community and national press turned out to see England captains, Chris Robshaw, Katy McLean, Rob Vickerman and Michaela Staniford, reveal the new England home and change kits. During a training session with the captains, as well as former Drybrook and England players Natasha Hunt and Danielle Waterman, girls’ and boys’ teams from the club were put through their paces by the players. The juniors made the most of the hands-on advice on technique and training, before picking up some personal memorabilia in the autograph signing session. Drybrook won the chance to host the event by demonstrating what rugby means to their local area. The England jersey is a huge source of passion and pride for players. The Canterbury kit combines the traditional styling that has been the mark of England Rugby since 1871, together with the technical construction that the company is known for. The shirt represents the dreams not just of those who wear it but of the millions who support England. The inside of the sleeve of the seniors, women’s and sevens shirts bears the slogan ENGLAND CONNECTED – a real reminder of the rugby family. To mark the unveiling of the new kit, and its partnership with the RFU, Canterbury also launched its England Is All campaign, featuring a series of iconic images by world renowned English photographer David Bailey.

    John Barker Tel: 01684 569527 e-mail [email protected] 23 August 2016 Dear Fellow Non-Player MOVE OVER OLYMPICS; MAKE WAY FOR RUGBY! I don’t suppose I am the only Rugby sportsperson who has been hooked on the Rio Olympics for the last two weeks, but I must now set that aside as we approach the new rugby season. Incidentally, I wonder if I am the only Malvern body who actually attended both of the last two London Olympics, 1948 and 2012? Both were outstanding occasions in my sporting memory; 1948 for the memorable Dutch woman sprinter Fanny Blankers- Koen, and 2012 for the Super Saturday Greg Rutherford, Jess Ennis (as she then was) and Mo Farah. Arising from Rio in 2016, we rugby club members will be remembering the introduction of Rugby Sevens to the Olympics and the splendid silver medal result of the GB team after just 10 weeks of their getting to know each other; almost certainly Sevens will develop worldwide as well as becoming a regular Olympic sport. Although I feature among the team photographs around the walls of the clubhouse as a member of the MalvernVII at Worcester in 1951-52, I could never have kept it up because you do have to train to be super-fit! OK, enough of all that but what about our stars of Malvern RFC last season? I attended the Annual Dinner and Awards evening in the clubhouse on Friday 6 May when, between the courses of a good meal, the following club awards were made: (1) Development XV Most Improved Player of the year: ASH BUDDING.
