Malvern Rugby Club - Sept 2017 Youth Newsletter View this email in your browser

Welcome A warm welcome to the 2017/2018 season from the Mini & Junior Committee! We all hope that you and your child have a great season ahead, one that is above all fun. The aim of the club is to provide a rugby environment that is safe, inclusive and encouraging. To help ensure this, all coaching staff are DBS checked and each age group has an individual who is responsible for safeguarding, please ask your team manager who this is. Overall Safeguarding for the Mini & Junior Section is coordinated by Sian Landon whose contact details are [email protected] or 07791 042 061.

This year is set to be a special season under the guidance of the new Director of Rugby, Rob Cook. Rob scored over 1000 points for Gloucester RFC and played in the Aviva Premiership as recently as 2016. Rob brings to the club modern coaching techniques and an improvement to the level of professionalism throughout the Mini, Junior and seniors age groups. This is Malvern Rugby Club Youth section’s first newsletter of the 2017/18 season. The Youth Committee will communicate directly with parents through regular newsletters so that you can keep abreast of all the developments, news and events – there is a lot going on!

Meet your 2017/18 Youth Executive Committee! The Youth Section now has a committee of volunteers who oversee the running of the section and meet regularly.

Safeguarding There is a new noticeboard in the Clubhouse covering the safeguarding policy and news. There is also a lot of information on the Safeguarding section of the Club website. The Club takes its' responsibilities to all players, but especially our youth section, very seriously. Should you have any issues or concerns please see the noticeboard or contact Sian Landon as the Club Safeguarding Officer.

Worcester Warriors Hub Club

Worcester Warriors have recently recognised the Mini & Junior Section’s success and have invited Malvern RFC to become a ‘Hub Club’, one of only 11 clubs in four counties. Some of the benefits of such a close association with the Warriors are: -

 Coaching from Worcester Warrior Community Coaches.  Visits to the club from Worcester Warrior 1st XV players.  Opportunities for age groups to play at the Worcester Warrior’s stadium.  Coaching and fun days at Malvern Rugby Club run by Worcester Warriors.

We had our first “Take over day” on Sunday 17 September, with Warriors 1st XV players and Community Coaches coming to Spring Lane to coach all age groups. With the sun shining and a hog roast, it was a great day!

One of the additional benefits of our Hub Club status is that if we buy tickets for Warriors home matches through our Coordinator, Colin Harding, the Club gets 10% of the ticket price back. Email Colin for a booking form or more details - [email protected]

Volunteers still needed!

Malvern RFC Minis and juniors are looking for some new volunteers to help with the ongoing organisation of the Youth section. Following on the success of last season and the continued growth of the Minis and Juniors section, we have a number of exciting new roles to fill:

 Girls Tag Rugby Coach – Ages 10 to 13 (Years 6, 7 & 8)  Saturday Morning Mixed Ability Rugby Coaches  Festival/Rugby Camp Coordinator  Sunday Morning Catering Manager  Referees

If you can help, or you would like to learn more, please email: [email protected]

Added benefits of Youth Membership As if the Youth Membership itself wasn’t fantastic enough value for money, there are some additional benefits you may wish to take advantage of: Each family with a Youth Member can take out one full adult membership for £45 (half price)! This

brings with it all of the benefits of full adult membership including discounts at local businesses, discounted bar prices, full voting rights, and the opportunity to apply for International tickets through the Club. Free entry to all Malvern RFC Home matches for any adult accompanying a child wearing a MRFC rugby top.

Do you know anyone who would like to join our Club? We are always keen to welcome new people to Malvern Rugby Club. U8s (Year 3) and U13s (Year 8) both could do with some additional players.

Sponsorship opportunities There are a number of ways you or your company can support the Club in exchange for publicity or advertising. One of our youth players has produced a video which explains how you can help.

Please take five minutes to watch it: http://www.pitchero.com/clubs/malvernrfc/videos/malvern-rugby-club-76039.html

"75 Club" The "75 Club" raises funds for major capital expenditure on the clubhouse. £10 a month, paid by direct debit, with half of the money being paid out in prizes each month, with the other half going into the Club Development Fund. If you'd like to join, please email Neil Preece - [email protected] Winners of the July draw were:
