A breeder of a non-state sired runner will receive 25 percent for all maiden races through third place and 20 percent in all other races in Pennsylvania. The potential is there to earn money even when the horse is no longer owned by the breeder, as long as the runner races in the state. Owners also reap rewards, up to 40 percent, in all non-restricted races, paid through third place. PA-Sired PA-Breds earn 25 percent extra in all PA-Bred Stakes races paid through third place. In 2020, the total for Owner Bonuses will amount to over $3 million paid out on top of the purse! Stallion owners also benefit with 10 percent of the purse share earned for their stallion’s registered PA-Bred, PA-Sired runners in the state. Total Fund payments can exceed six figures a year for Pennsylvania stallion owners. Please see the domicile requirements below. • The dam of the foal resided continuously in Pennsylvania since DECEMBER 1 of the year of conception through foaling. Mares not being bred back will also fall under this category; or • The dam of the foal was purchased at a public sale after DECEMBER 1 of the year of conception and brought into Pennsylvania within 14 days of the date of purchase (within 60 days if purchased outside of the U.S.) and remained continuously through foaling. During the year of foaling, the foal or its dam spent at least ninety (90) days in the state. Must be a completed public sale – not an RNA (Reserve Not Attained) or a private transaction after the public sale; or • The dam of the foal arrived after DECEMBER 1 of the year of conception, foaled in Pennsylvania and was bred back to a registered PA stallion standing in Pennsylvania and the dam of the foal resided SIXTY (60) consecutive days during which foaling occurred.
