SOCIAL ACTIVITIES Following are main spheres of work: Fight against Hepatitis since 1994: Have organized many conferences seminars and have been arranging walks for the last 22 years from Margalla Hills to Gokina. Make the Country Clean & Make the Country Green‟ slogan of Pakistan Green Task Force (PGTF) working for the cleanliness of this focus of main interest. Have arranged plantation many times at different places in City, especially in all the three main hospitals of Rawalpindi and Rawalpindi Medical College. As many as 200,000 saplings have been planted until now on main roads e.g. Murree Road, Saidpur Road, Stadium Road, 6th Road and 4th-B Road, Rawal Road, Airport Road etc. Page 3 of 27 RESUME Plantation also done in Divisional Public School (DPS), PTCL Telephone Exchange Satellite Town, Darul Aman, Aafiat, Anjuman Faizul Islam, Adiala Jail, various government schools/colleges, Preparatory School, Diplomatic Enclave, Girls Guide etc. Public Parks in National Market, Rawalpindi General Hospital, Holy Family Hospitals, District Headquarter Hospital. Also working for provision of clean water in Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Carried out water tests to check the level of contamination. Conducted press conferences, written articles, held forums to create awareness among people against contaminated water. Strongly condemned no smoking and actively participated in various campaigns for the cause and also stressed for strict enforcement of Laws against “no smoking” at public places. Welfare activities for medical students and doctors. PROFESSIONAL CITI LAB is one of the famous labs in Pakistan. It is one of three biggest labs in private sector in Pakistan (Excluding Agha Khan Health Foundation, Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and biggest lab in Rawalpindi/Islamabad. The quality of results is comparable to best labs of Pakistan even Agha Khan/Shaukat Khanum. ACHIEVEMENTS Inclusion of Hepatitis B Vaccination in Extended Programme of Immunisation (EPI): On account of agitating the severe issue of Hepatitis in Pakistan at all forums including Electronic and Print media and convincing the policy makers that actually Hepatitis is the AIDS of Pakistan so that immediate attention is required to tackle the issue. The Govt. of Pakistan Included Vaccination of Hepatitis B in National EPI. Environment Protection: Being the pioneer of beautification projects for Rawalpindi intercity roads, health and educational institutions through plantation and government agencies also taken keen interest to initiate prospects of similar nature besides the public participation in this regard. Provision of Water Purification Plants: Page 4 of 27 RESUME Government compelled to establish water purification plants at thickly populated areas. Donated filtrations plants to different Govt & Non Govt Organizations e.e. Colleges, Schools etc. No Smoking: In recognition of efforts against smoking in “Food Street” Islamabad and the sponsorship of Tobacco Company for said food market, the Govt. imposed restriction on smoking in the entire area of Food Street and stopped tobacco promotion. An ordinance was also promulgated in this connection. Establishment of First Medical University: In result of meeting with President of Pakistan General Pervaiz Musharaf, Federal and Provincial Health Ministers, the long awaited pressing demand of establishing a separate Medical University was met. Rehabilitation of Senior Citizens: A package of concessional relief was approval by the Govt. for Senior Citizens while a member of philanthropists and donor agencies were introduced to AFFIAT (the residential institute of senior citizens) who had devoted essential commodities. Assurance of Governor Punjab Lt. Gen. (R) Khalid Maqbool to Review the Policy Decisions to Mitigate the Problems of Doctors: During meeting with Governor Punjab, he was in principle agreed the employment of doctors on permanent basis instead of temporary or on contract. Awarding of scholarship to all postgraduate trainees without any discrimination. Suggestions regarding income-generating projects for Government hospitals. Recommendations for improvement of health services in the hospitals. CHARITY: In the capacity of Chief Executive of CITI LAB rendering services for the poor masses of society. Even a single person cannot be pointed out who is denied of lab tests for lack of money. All the poor patients of the hospitals R.G.H., H.F.H. of D.H.Q Hospital, Railway Hospital, P.I.M.S etc. are provided free lab services. Similarly the poor patients coming from Darul Aman, Aafiat, Leprosy hospitals, APNAGHAR, Kashana, Edhi Centres, Darul Falah, Redo and other such organizations are entertained without any charges. FAMILY BACKGROUND: Grand Father Chaudhry Barkat Ali was an active member of Tehrik-e- Khilafat (Caliphate Movement) and worked with Maulana Muhammad Ali Johar and Maulana Shaukat Ali Johar. FATHER: Former BD Member of Local Govt. in 1964. Former Political Agent of Fatima Jinnah in presidential election. Former General Secretary PML Qayyum group. Former Senior Joint Secretary PML. He is affiliated with PML throughout his political carrier since 1960 to this date. MOTHER: She was First Lady Councillor of the city.
