International boundaries on land and sea have been the main focus of his research in the past thirty years. He has written books on those subjects and political geography in general and some have been translated into Arabic, German and Italian. Grant Boyes holds a degree in Applied Science (Geography) from the University of Canberra. He worked for over 18 years in the Australian public service, some 17 of which were associated with maritime boundaries and offshore limits, becoming Australia’s Principal Research Officer, Maritime Boundaries. In 1991 he took up the position of Coordinator, Maritime Boundaries with the South Pacific Forum Fisheries Agency (representing 16 countries in the Pacific).
