While completing her Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting, she was recognized on the Dean’s List for three terms and the Merit List for nine. As a student, Lio was proud to engage in CapU's vibrant campus community. She immersed herself as a writer and editor for the student newspaper, the Capilano Courier, where she connected with peers who embodied diverse backgrounds and perspectives. As well, she sang in the Capilano University Festival Chorus and tutored business students through the Capilano Accounting Association. After graduation, Lio is looking forward to joining PwC’s risk assurance practice and pursuing her CPA designation. She hopes to make an impact—both in her career and in the community that is centred on inclusion and equity—helping people in low-income and marginalized communities to develop financial literacy skills, and advocating for reconciliation and supporting Indigenous sovereignty across Turtle Island. She is also inspired to improve access to mental health care and resources and to empower youth to create meaningful change in their communities. Lio credits her family and friends for supporting her through this journey, and the faculty and staff at Capilano U who took the time to make her feel seen and heard over the last six years. 6 2021 SPRING CONVOCATION 2021 SPRING CONVOCATION 7 OUR TRADITIONS THE COAT OF ARMS REGALIA Supporters Crest Arms The chancellor and vice-chancellor robes are based on traditional academic A bear in blue with light blue wings Two books with blue binding and white The main part of the shield is white and ceremonial gowns.
