That old sweater will have to be washed and conditioned ready for this episode with the A team back in full. It was a nice story arc about Gabby catching up on her friend that she left behind in New York. Also left on a cliffhanger! Loved the art style as well. This installment of the Tenth Doctor graphic novels is easily my favorite. After that cliffhanger I need to know what happens next. Jul 01, Farnoush Mellark rated it liked it Shelves: comic-books. I really didn't enjoy this. Feb 17, Adam Aufderheide rated it it was amazing Shelves: adam-s-favorite-comics. Thsi was really good. I loved how it continues onto a storyline from a 4th Doctor Episode, "the Pyramids of Mars" one of my personal favorites. The story was good, and I can't wait to read some of the "Year Two" material. I was only vaguely aware of Doctor Who before the 21st century reboot. A few friends recommended the show to me, and one of them finally loaned me the Ninth Doctor Christopher Eccleston series. Martha Jones is my favourite . I did thoroughly enjoy The Day of the Doctorhowever. In an interesting coincidence, I bought this not long before I found The Husbands of River Song at the library and had to check it out. River is lots of fun. So—yay, more diversity! As for the story itself, it was okay. Gabriella is a nice girl, in a bit over her head as the companions tend to be early on, but she does her best. Cindy often came off as abrasive or insecure. I got a little lost in some of the jargon, but that might be my own problem and nothing to do with the writing. Pros: -The drawings, by Elena Casagrande and, to a lesser extent, Arianna Florean, continue to be beautiful and very refreshing - No noticeable over sexualized poses or exaggerated anatomy I prefer Casagrande's way of depicting the characters as opposed to Florean's, thoughas it is often seen in comic books usually by male artistseven the DW ones. This is the kind of comic drawings female comic Doctor Who: The Tenth Doctor: Volume 3 deserve. The drawings also look like . Her friend and more unwilling companion xDCindy Wu, is another interesting and assertive character with an interest for science. Apart from the Doctor and Anubis, male characters have secondary roles in this story. Cons: -The tube skirt and heels. Even though the poses were not sexualized. Sep 10, Rick rated it really liked it Shelves: whoniversegraphic- bookstime-travelindividual-issuesmedia-tie-inwhoniverse Some of these new Doctor Who comics from Titan have been pretty disappointing, this one was not. The story arc held up a lot of the flavor and texture of the David Tennant years and humorous, thrilling scary and emotional impactful as well. In part, the success of these new comics is in developing new companions for the Doctor. The focus shifts from the perspective of the Doctor's adventures to the companion's adventures and thus the narrative's protagonist is the companion, and Doctor Who: The Tenth Doctor: Volume 3 the star. Looking forward to many more Gabby adventures with the 10th Doctor. Aug 24, Anika Claire rated it really liked it Shelves: science- fictiongraphic-novel. Another adventure with the Tenth Doctor and Gabby. This time, the whole volume is taken up with one story, with just a little intro diversion, similar to Doctor Who: The Tenth Doctor: Volume 3 real episode! Gabby accidentally drags her sassy friend Cindy into this tale of alien artefacts and ancient beings. I didn't love it quite as much as the earlier adventures with Gabby, but it's still a great addition to the collection and gives that little hit of Tenth Doctor awesomeness that I've been craving :. I'd read the first issue of this two years ago, and, even though I'm not a huge Ninth Doctor fan, the ending had me excited because it ended with the Tenth Doctor being de-aged into the Ninth Doctor. However, it turns out that he's only like that very briefly. As such, that ending feels like a cheap Doctor Who: The Tenth Doctor: Volume 3 to get readers to buy the Doctor Who: The Tenth Doctor: Volume 3 issue. This is an example of a gimmick gone wrong, Doctor Who: The Tenth Doctor: Volume 3 that the comics really need to avoid. To me, this makes this volume feel like the weakest of the Doctor Who: The Tenth Doctor: Volume 3 three from this Tenth Doctor series. The score might be more of a 3. Once I Doctor Who: The Tenth Doctor: Volume 3 past that, though, I really enjoyed how the storyline incorporated Anubis. I love the character designs and the background art all throughout this book. And it was nice having Gabby's friend Cindy Doctor Who: The Tenth Doctor: Volume 3 involved in the plot. I suppose that it would've resulted in there being too many companions in the Four Doctors crossover event. So I hope that Cindy comes back into play after that. Sep 04, Andy Hickman rated it really liked it. You move through this reality like smoke, a beautiful, dangerous idea. They choke the planet with rudimentary industrial processes. New author Abadzis takes a different tack, presenting a story that's heavily influenced by past Doctor Who canon. The result is a rather delightful expansion of a very classic foe, looked at through a new lens. What this comic doesn't have, unfortunately, is much in the way of human connection. Though it's absolutely full of characters, none of them really pop for me until the last issue. There's also not enough tension. So, I can see the potential of this new author, and love his look into the sh New author Abadzis takes a different tack, presenting a story that's heavily influenced by past Doctor Who canon.
