Think of this quintet as music's answer to the Justice League, each one endowed with superhero powers and sworn to bring excite- ment back to the bandstand. CAB consists of guitar monster Tony MacAlpine, bass wizard and Return To Forever alumnus Bunny Brunel, legendary British organist Brian Auger, elegant and ingenious keyboard innovator Patrice Rushen, and the “Thun- der from Down Under”, unstoppable rhythm dynamo Virgil Donati on drums -- each a giant on his or her own terms. Together, they are unlike anything heard since the glory days of jazz-rock fusion. As Steve Vai said it “This is the best fusion album since Return To Forever.” But wait. Isn't "fusion" a dirty word? Not in CAB country: Their unique balance of rock (Auger, MacAlpine) and jazz (Rushen, Virgil, Brunel) talents assures that both idioms are well represented and blended into something entirely new. CAB is, in fact, something like what jazz might have become had the torch not been dropped so soon after the fusion race had begun. That long-gone sense of limitless possibilities that once surrounded RTF, Weather Report, and the Mahavishnu Orchestra traced back to Miles Davis and his crossover experiments in the sixties. In its willingness to question stereotypes, redefine improvisation, and push virtuosity to new extremes, this music was akin to bebop; as the product of exploration by the best players of the day, it represented the best of jazz, period.

SEVEN THE HARDWAY – where did the name come from? I think it was Mark who came up with the name. According to him, it just popped into his head. The meaning is open to interpretation. For me it represents the continual struggle we face in life, and ‘Seven’ symbolises the seven virtues, seven deadly sins, or the seven wonders. You chose ROY Z (BRUCE DICKINSON, JUDAS PRIEST, HELLOWEEN, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN) to mix the debut album – has the band collectively produced this release? We thought he would be a good choice, bearing in virgil donati mind the direction of the sound. Chick Corea with Gary Burton Hot House Tour w/ the Harlem String Quartet January 2012 Chick Corea: EARLY YEARS 1941-1971 Born Armando Anthony Corea in Chelsea, Massachusetts on June 12, 1941, he began studying piano at age four. Early on in his development, Horace Silver and Bud Powell were important influences while the music of Beethoven and Mozart inspired his compositional instincts. Chick’s first professional gig was with Cab Calloway, which came before early stints in Latin bands led by Mongo Santamaria and Willie Bobo. Important sideman work with trumpeter Blue Mitchell, flutist Herbie Mann and saxophonist Stan Getz came before Chick made his recording debut as a leader in 1966 with Tones For Joan's Bones. During these formative years, Chick also recorded sessions with Cal Tjader, Donald Byrd and Dizzy Gillespie. After accompanying singer Sarah Vaughan in 1967, Chick went into the studio in March of 1968 and recorded Now He Sings, Now He Sobs with bassist Miroslav Vitous and drummer Roy Haynes. That trio album is now considered a jazz classic. In the fall of 1968, Chick replaced Herbie Hancock in Miles Davis' band with Ron Carter, Wayne Shorter and Tony Williams. In September of that year, he played Fender Rhodes electric piano on Miles' important and transitional recording Filles de Kilimanjaro which pointed to a fresh new direction in jazz. Between 1968 and 1970, Chick also appeared on such groundbreaking Davis recordings as In a Silent Way, Bitches Brew, Live-Evil and Live at the Fillmore East. He was also a key player in Davis' electrified ensemble that appeared before 600,000 people on August 29, 1970 at the Isle of Wight Festival in England (captured on Murray Lerner's excellent documentary, Miles Electric: A Different Kind of Blue).
