  • First DTM Victory of the Audi R8 LMS
Audi MediaInfo First DTM victory of the Audi R8 LMS • 1-2 victory for Audi R8 LMS with teams from ABT and Rosberg at DTM season opener at Monza • Audi R8 LMS GT4 extends lead in GT4 European Series standings • Audi RS 3 LMS wins races in five countries Neuburg a. d. Donau, June 21, 2021 – Audi Sport customer racing made a furious start to the new DTM season with the R8 LMS. Kelvin van der Linde won at the opening weekend at Monza ahead of Nico Müller. In the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS, Dries Vanthoor/Charles Weerts remain championship leaders while Gregory Guilvert/Fabien Michal extended their lead in the GT4 European Series. The Audi RS 3 LMS completes an outstanding weekend record with victories in five championships. Audi R8 LMS GT3 Strong one-two victory at the season opener at Monza: The DTM started into a new era with GT3 sports cars in Italy and Audi is among the winners with the R8 LMS from the very beginning. On his 25th birthday, Audi Sport driver Kelvin van der Linde was unbeatable on the high-speed circuit at Monza on race Sunday. Already in qualifying, the South African from Team ABT Sportsline proved his class with a best time in the Audi R8 LMS – the five brands in the top six positions were separated by just 0.248 seconds. On his fastest lap, van der Linde benefited, among other things, from a slipstream that brand colleague Nico Müller from Team Rosberg had given him. In the race, a key situation arose in the first turn: Van der Linde defended first place against Saturday’s winner Liam Lawson and thus maintained his advantage on a high- speed track on which overtaking is extremely difficult for the Audi drivers.

  • 70Th Victory for Team ABT Sportsline in the DTM
ABT Sportsline 2021 – Press Release Week 33 70th victory for Team ABT Sportsline in the DTM Kelvin van der Linde has given Team ABT Sportsline its 70th victory in the DTM. Following his victories at Monza and Zolder, the championship leader also won Saturday’s race at the Nürburgring. After the first half of the season, the South African, who lives near Kempten, has a 33-point lead in the drivers’ championship. In the teams’ championship, ABT Sportsline is also at the top of the table after the first half of the 2021 DTM season. Saturday was a picture-perfect day for ABT Sportsline: Kelvin van der Linde secured pole position for the third time this season with a perfect qualifying lap and then celebrated a commanding victory. On the way, he only had to shake twice when late stoppers Timo Glock and Alex Albon put up a massive fight against the ABT driver. The South African stayed cool, grabbed the two opponents and, after crossing the finish line, ordered an ice cream from SAT.1 commentator Eddy Mielke, which was promptly served to him by colleague Andrea Kaiser at the podium ceremony. Walter Kolb accepted the trophy for the winning team. The 73-year-old pensioner from Isny had auctioned a seat at the pit stand of ABT Sportsline for the race at the Nürburgring by donating 6,000 Euros for the victims of the flood disaster in the region. The DTM was the first race event after the flood at the Nürburgring. Before the start of the race, children affected by the flood had visited the ABT Sportsline pit and were even allowed to hold the steering wheel of the eventual winning car in their hands before the race.

  • Striking Design and Strong Partners ABT Sportsline Ready for Official DTM Test
ABT Sportsline 2021 – Press Release CW 17 Striking design and strong partners ABT Sportsline ready for official DTM test The countdown to the start of the new DTM season begins with the last official and joint test days at the Lausitzring next week. ABT Sportsline will be running three Audi R8 LMS cars and, together with strong partners, has perfectly positioned itself for the next chapter in the company’s successful DTM history. The race cars of Sophia Flörsch, Kelvin van der Linde and Mike Rockenfeller will be given a striking design that will be instantly recognisable to all of the fans at the track and in front of the television. “We are proud that so many partners are accompanying us on our comeback as a private team in the DTM,” says Harry Unflath, who as Head of Sports Marketing at ABT Sportsline is responsible for marketing all of the motorsport activities of the team from Allgäu. “Together with our partners, engineers, mechanics, drivers and fans, we have a strong package for the DTM. Now, of course, we want to repay the trust placed in us with strong performances and plenty of action off the track as well.” The decision in favour of the Audi R8 LMS as the race car for the DTM entry was a logical one: ABT has been involved in motorsport with the four rings in a wide variety of categories since the early 1990s. “Audi and ABT have a successful history together that has lasted for more than three decades,” says Harry Unflath. “We are now looking forward to the new commitment and support from Audi Sport customer racing.” Most striking is the appearance of automotive and industrial supplier Schaeffler, which makes Sophia Flörsch’s entry possible and its colors dominate the design of the 20-year-old German’s Audi R8 LMS.

A total of ten Audi R8 LMS cars are going to compete in the German GT sports car series. The ADAC GT Masters is one of the best-filled national GT3 series around the globe. Since 2009, teams in the ADAC GT Masters have been relying on Audi’s GT3 sports cars, but never before has the R8 LMS been as popular as this year. “We look forward to welcoming three new teams – Aust Motorsport, Car Collection Motorsport and Montaplast by Land-Motorsport – in our circle of customers,” says Chris Reinke, Head of Audi Sport customer racing. The squads of APR Motorsport, Phoenix Racing and Yaco Racing have been relying on the GT3 sports car made by Audi for many years. Audi MediaInfo Sensation almost successful: Audi drives from 54th place to second place at the Spa 24 Hours • Kelvin van der Linde/Dries Vanthoor/Charles Weerts second in Spa • Audi leads the Intercontinental GT Challenge manufacturers standings • Four defining designs of the Audi R8 LMS attract a lot of attention Spa/Neuburg a. d. Donau, August 1, 2021 – Audi Sport customer racing provided pure emotion at the world’s biggest GT3 race: Four unusual design race cars to mark the 100th race birthday at Spa, a concentrated chase and the battle for victory of the number 32 car, which seemed almost impossible before the race started, attracted a lot of attention and sympathy for the brand. Audi Sport Team WRT had been deprived of all chances with this race car through no fault of its own due to red flags in qualifying. The race of van der Linde/Vanthoor/Weerts initially appeared hopeless. But in the end they missed victory by only 3.9 seconds. Two red flags in qualifying left Dries Vanthoor with no chance: Without a lap completed, the Belgian already lost all chances of a good grid position on Thursday evening. Instead, the race began for him and his teammates Kelvin van der Linde and Charles Weerts on the third-last row of the grid in 54th place. In the pouring rain in the second hour of the race, the driver trio with the number 32 car stormed through the field. As early as in the fourth hour of racing, the three Audi Sport drivers found themselves among the top four overall.

Donau, October 16, 2020 – The 71st edition of the Spa 24 Hours will take place for the first time in autumn. From 22 to 25 October, the three Audi Sport customer racing teams will compete in the world’s biggest GT3 race to clinch their fifth victory after 2011, 2012, 2014 and 2017, but the traditional Coupe du Roi brand title and valuable championship points in the GT World Challenge Europe as well as the Intercontinental GT Challenge (IGTC) are also up for grabs in Belgium. “Although the 2020 season started late for most of our customers, it has now turned into a first-class sporting competition,” says Chris Reinke, Head of Audi Sport customer racing. “In the GT World Challenge Europe two of our teams won four titles shortly before the Spa 24 Hours. Now they are aiming for further success in the endurance and overall standings. For this, Spa is the most important stage, because the long duration means that at three different times in the race a particularly large number of points are awarded here.” While Audi Sport customer racing is sending four top-class R8 LMS cars to the race, the customers will also participate with four private racing cars in different classes.
