Bella Rosa Hybrid (67-75 days) This juicy, great tasting beauty is a perfect . It yields an abundance of large (10- to 12-ounce), round fruit with smooth, deep red skin that is thin, but doesn't crack. It performs well in high heat and humidity with good disease resistance. Perfect for home gardens. Determinate.

Big Beef Hybrid (73 days) 1994 All-America Selection Winner. Combines delicious flavor with a full spectrum of disease resistance. Works well in any climate. Smooth fruits are deep red, globe-shaped, extra-large 4-6″ and crack-resistant. Has a sweet, slightly-acid flavor. One slice fits a sandwich. Produces up to frost. Indeterminate.

Black Krim (69 to 80 days) A most unusual novelty. Fruits are a dark red (almost a shiny black) with heavy green shoulders. Interior is a deep, reddish-green color. Sweet and tasty. Originated in the Crimea, an island peninsula in the Black Sea with perfect “tomato summers”. Matures extremely early and is blight resistant. Indeterminate

Box Car Willie (80 days) This prolific heirloom is better than most of today's hybrids. The vines produce crack-free, disease tolerant 10-18 ounce tomatoes with a delicious sweet, yet tart flavor. Because of their abundance and medium to large size, they could well be a mainstay of your crop. Indeterminate.

Brandywine (90 to 100 days) An Amish heirloom that dates back to 1885 with a taste described like sweet ambrosia. It generally is considered to be the world’s best-flavored tomato. Plants look like potato vines with good yields of extra- large (weighing up to 1-1 ½ lbs.), firm, clear-skinned, light-rosy-pink fruits. Prone to cracking. Needs tall and strong supportive staking or caging - not a good variety for containers! Indeterminate.

Bush Hybrid (54 days) Sister to popular Early Girl delivers the same desirable qualities in a compact, patio-sized variety. Extremely early and huge yields of firm, meaty, flavorful fruits that are larger than Early Girl-a full 4" in diameter. Can be grown in containers on a patio, deck or balcony. Determinate. Carbon (80 days) Rich, complex flavors. The winner of an taste testing at Cornell University. One of the darkest black tomatoes offered. Produces flattened round and smooth, medium to large, 8 to 12 ounce fruits bigger than without the cracking or blemishing. They are dark purplish-brown on the outside with a deep brick-red interior. Carmello (70-75 days) An outstanding classic French slicing tomato with a deservedly great reputation both in America and Europe, due to its wonderful flavor, perfect sugar/acid balance, crack-resistant skin, and disease resistance. Yields abundant, bright red juicy 5 to 7 ounce, medium-large tomatoes with rich, sweet flavor. Rarely seen in shops due to their thin yet non-cracking skin. Appreciates support. Indeterminate.

Celebrity Hybrid (70 days) All-America Selection Award Winner established a new standard for main-crop hybrids requiring multiple disease resistance. Highly adaptable from Canada to the South. Medium sized, globe-shaped fruits are crack-resistant and average 7 oz. Semi-determinate.

Cherokee Purple (80 to 90 days) Cherokee Purple is said to be more than 100 years old, originally grown by the Cherokee Indians. A reliable producer of unusual, medium pink-purple fruits that appears brown in color, and average 8 to 12 oz., each. Fruits are round to oblate, with no cracking. Exhibits tolerance to mild drought as well as to common diseases. Indeterminate.

Delicious (77 days) Lives up to its name! A refined selection of Beefsteak, it’s an excellent slicer, with most fruits over 1 lb. and many to 2-3 lbs. A fruit of Delicious held the Guinness World Record for weight (7.75 lbs) for 28 years! Defiant PhR (56 days) This mid-size slicer has high resistance to late blight and intermediate resistance to early blight combined with great flavor. The 6-8 oz., globe-shaped fruit are smooth and medium-firm with deep red internal and external color. High-yielding, medium-sized plants are widely adaptable. Defiant was bred to inherit the Ph-2 and Ph-3 major genes for late blight (Phytophthora) resistance. High resistance to Fusarium wilt races 1, 2, late blight, and Verticillium wilt; and intermediate resistance to early blight. Determinate.

Early Girl Hybrid (57 days) These 4- to 6-ounce fruits are red-skinned, smooth, and absolutely delectable! La Roma III Hybrid (76 days) An excellent known for its vigor and uniformity. Bright red, meaty fruits are large, 5 to 8 ounces, and full of flavor. Matina (58 days) This very early variety bears loads of 2 to 4 oz. red fruit with terrific flavor normally found only in a huge beefsteak. The fact that its fruit is ripe up to a full month earlier than many beefsteak varieties makes Matina really special. Paul Robeson (80 – 90 days) A Russian heirloom that continues to be a favorite in taste test competitions. Brick red, 8 to 12 ounce fruits have dark green shoulders and red flesh. Flavor is exceptional with a nice balance of sweetness and acidity. Named in honor of Paul Robeson, the famous opera singer and civil rights activist. Indeterminate.

Persimmon Orange (80 days) Great flavor and eye appeal! Large, plump, golden-orange fruits average 1 to 2 lbs. - meaty, with luscious flavor and only a few seeds. You can expect these vigorous plants to produce good yields. Indeterminate.

San Marzano II (78 days) San Marzano is considered one of the best paste/sauce tomatoes of all time. It has the traditional elongated shape, vibrant red color and rich taste. The whole 4–6 oz. tomatoes peel easily and cook down quickly. Various strains of San Marzano exist; this strain originates from Parma, Italy and was selected to preserve genetic diversity and increase food security. Indeterminate.

Skyway (78 days) Large beefsteak-type with broad disease resistance for the South. Attractive red, moderately ribbed, 8-12 oz. tomatoes. Very good flavor and fruit quality. High resistance to Fusarium wilt races 1, 2, and 3, tomato apex necrotic virus, Verticillium wilt; and intermediate resistance to nematodes, tomato spotted wilt virus, and tomato yellow leaf curl virus. Super Verde Hybrid Tomatillo (75 days) These extra-large tart, yellow-green fruits are firm; weighing approximately 2 1/2 ounces each, have strong healthy husks, and an above average shelf life. Sturdy plants have excellent vigor, cover and fruit set. This hybrid has a higher yield potential and an extended harvest window - all improvements over comparable varieties. Unusual 2" fruits are harvested green - the husks are removed before cooking and are a staple ingredient in Mexican Verde. Also can add a distinctive taste to salads. Indeterminate.

Tough Boy Hybrid (75 days) Extra early and vigorous. Plants have medium sized leaves and medium short internodes. Fruits weigh approx. 1 lb. and grow in clusters of 6 to 7. Sungold Hybrid (57 days) The most popular cherry tomato at MVUC Greenhouse. A positively luscious, bite-size golden beauty overflowing with an abundance of fruits thin skinned, with a juicy flesh that holds its oh-so-sweet, fresh- from-the–vine flavor. Very early with heavy crops both outdoors and in greenhouses. Cascading trusses are smothered in fruits that remain ripe and ready for picking over long periods of time. England’s oldest seed house developed this remarkable variety. Indeterminate.

Sungreen 4029 (58 days) A unique green-ripe cherry that is absolutely delicious as a snack or in salads: sweet with a tangy kick. The strong plants deliver uniform yields of clean, neat clusters with 15–20 gm. fruit. NOTE: Ripe when green with a yellowish tinge. High resistance to tomato mosaic virus; and intermediate resistance to tobacco mosaic virus. Indeterminate.

Super Sweet 100 Hybrid (65 days) Staked hybrid plants produce long strands of 100 or super-sweet cherry tomatoes, weighing about 1 oz. each and measuring 1" in diameter. Extra-high in Vitamin C. Plants bear fruits throughout the season and are resistant to Verticilium Wilt. Requires staking or caging. Indeterminate

Sweet Million (57 days) Terrific flavor and high yields of super-sweet cherry tomatoes that have excellent, hybrid disease resistance. Long chains of smooth, dark red, 1” to 1-1/2" fruits are produced on large vigorous plants. Matures early and continues producing until frost. Tropical Sunset (60-70 days) Gorgeous, 1-1 1/2" ping-pong ball sized fruits are gold with orange-pink striping and are almost translucent when ripe. Flavor is fruity and bright. Holds in the ripe stage for a long time, providing a good shelf life. A real show stopper and a trial favorite! Indeterminate.

Yellow Pear (78 days) Vigorous vines produce high yields of 2", yellow-skinned, pear-shaped fruits with few seeds. Slightly later than Red Pear, but with the same prolific yields and dependable performance. Resistant to Verticilium Wilt, Fusarium Wilt and Late Blight. Indeterminate

SWEET PEPPERS IN BLACK HOT PEPPER IN RED

Ajvarski (80 days) Here’s a really outstanding roasting pepper from eastern Macedonia. Two-foot, stocky plants are covered in 6- to 7- inch, broadly wedge-shaped pods that ripen green to deep, rich red. These peppers are incredibly fragrant and tasty. These thick-fleshed peppers traditional are roasted on flat metal stoves, peeled, then ground into a traditional relish, which is eaten on bread, often with a local cheese similar to feta.

Ancho 101 (76-80 days) When fresh and still green, these mildly hot, heart-shaped peppers are stuffed and made into chiles rellenos. When mature they are dark, rust red, richly flavored, and often dried and ground into chili powder. Peppers become 4 inches long, tapering to a blunt point.

Biggie Chili Hybrid (68 days) One of the best Anaheim-type chili peppers for the north. Stronger plants with a heavier leaf canopy to protect the fruits from sunburn and higher quality yields than Big Chile II. Early maturity, huge yields, thick walled fruits up to 9" long. Light green fruits will mature to a bright red if left on the vine. Great for roasting or slicing to add the perfect zest to pizzas or salads. Resistant to Pepper Mild Mottle Virus. Scoville Rating: 450 to 600

Carmen Hybrid (60 days) 2006 All-American Selection Winner. A distinctive horn shaped Italian pepper with a delightful flavor that’s noticeably sweeter than other varieties, raw or cooked. Firm, tapered fruits grow to about 5 oz., 6 inches long and 2- 1/2 inches wide at the shoulders, maturing green to red on upright, leafy plants. Excellent yields, widely adaptable, reliable and easy to grow.

Chichimeca Hybrid (60-63 days) Gigantic, thick-walled fruits are over 4" in length by nearly 2" wide at the shoulders - a crowd pleaser in salsas, salads, vegetable dishes and when pickled. Mildly pungent fruits mature green to red, averaging 1-1/4 ounces. Fruit is a little milder than a regular jalapeno. Plants grow 28 to 32" tall and can be picked earlier than similar varieties. Expect large yields of these impressive peppers on strong virus-resistant plants. Scoville Rating: 3,500 to 6,000

Corno di Toro (72 days) Heirloom "Horn of the Bull" pepper imported from Italy. Fruits are 8 to 10" long, curved much like its namesake. Ripens from glossy green to a gorgeous dark red at maturity, with superb taste and size. Tall plants are very vigorous.

Cubanelle Sweet (70-80 days) Commonly used in Cuban, Puerto Rican, and Dominican cuisine. Sometimes slightly hot, but with only a touch of heat. This 6-8” pepper is prized for its sweet, mild flesh, rich flavor, and pretty colors. It’s suited for quick cooking and has a low water content. Best picked when yellow-green for use in roasting, stuffing or frying. One of the traditional ingredients in sofrito. Also known for their unique, imperfectly curled, wrinkled, and twisted shapes--no two seem to ever be alike.

Early Sunsation Hybrid (69 days) Sweet Bell. The earliest, biggest and brightest yellow bell ever! Very fine, extra-large, 4-1/2", smooth fruits mature from green to bright golden-yellow, when they are at their sweetest. Excellent resistance to Bacterial Spot.

Fish Pepper (80 days) This African-American heirloom pepper predates the 1870s and is one of the prettiest, tastiest peppers you'll ever meet. You may have encountered (and savored) this heirloom pepper in the oyster and crab houses around the Chesapeake Bay. Boasting handsome, variegated foliage, the 18-24" plants produce 2-3" long pendant fruits. Starting out an unusual cream color striped with green, the fruits ripen to orange with brown stripes, before turning all red. An attractive, attention-getting choice for containers.

Jalapeño M (75 days)

Dark green, medium-hot, thick-walled peppers 3" long, 1" wide, with rounded tips. Matures to dark red. Days to maturity are from time plants are set in garden. For transplants, add 8-10 weeks. Space plants 18-24" apart. CAUTION: Use rubber gloves or clean hot peppers under running water to avoid skin burn from the pepper juice. Scoville Rating: 1,500 - 2,500

Jimmy Nardello (80-90 days) A sweet frying pepper with long, 8 to 10" fruit. It’s mild and just a little spicy. Tapered fruits on bushy plants turn bright red at maturity. Flavor is distinctive without being overwhelming. A favorite for cooking and eating raw.

King Arthur Hybrid (61 days) Formerly Fat N' Sassy. Unmatched for its large fruit size and early maturity. Sweet, crunchy, 4-lobed fruits truly live up to their name - about 4-1/2" by 4-1/2", thick-walled and blocky. Upright plants reach about 22" in height, and perform well under a variety of conditions. Tolerant of most diseases.

Mama Mia Giallo Hybrid (85 days) 2014 AAS Winner. Bright yellow, tapered fruits grow 7 to 9 inches long and are very uniform with smooth skin and sweet flavor. Excellent eaten fresh, roasted or grilled. The plants are 20 to 24 inches tall with excellent leaf coverage to protect the peppers from sunburn and strong stems to support the heavy yields of up to 30 fruits per plant. Tobacco Mosaic Virus resistant.

Poblano L (85 days) Peppers are mildly hot and turn from dark green to chocolate brown when mature. Plant has green stems, green leaves, and white flowers, and are 5 inches long and 2-1/2 inches wide with a slight taper and blunt end. These are a little longer and milder than Ancho 101. These peppers are called Poblano when fresh and Ancho when dried. Scoville units from 600 to 1,800

Red Mini Bell (60 days) Oh, so cute! Tiny, red bell peppers are only about 1-1/2” tall and wide; they have thick red flesh that is very sweet. 2’-tall plants produce loads of these little winners, and early, too. Great for stuffing.

Serrano (75-90 days) Small finger-shaped hot peppers picked green or red. Easy to dry. Each plant will give you dozens of medium-thin walled fruits. Pick them early when the peppers are green and more mild or wait until they're mature and red hot. Space plants 18-24" apart. Scoville Rating: 10,000.

Shishito (60 days) Small, thin-walled glossy green peppers are popular as tasty appetizers that are most often pan-fried in a little olive oil and sprinkled with salt. Usually the flavor is bright and a little sweet, but every so often a pepper will appear with a shot of spicy heat. It is said that one out of 10 to 20 peppers will be hot. It is this element of surprise that makes eating these peppers so much fun. Easy to grow plants have a spreading habit and produce very abundant harvest.

Tiburon Hybrid (65-75 days) A high-yielding poblano with fantastic disease resistance. A staple in southwestern and Latin cuisine, these mildly hot peppers can be canned, used fresh for stuffing or dried and ground into the Ancho spice. Dark green, glossy fruits have thick walls and grow up to 7 inches long. Resistant to Tobacco Mosaic Virus and Bacterial Spot. Thirty inch plants continually set fruit through the season for extended harvest. Scoville Rating: 2,000 – 2,350

Black Beauty (74 days) This remains the standard worldwide for large-fruited black eggplant. The 1902 Burpee introduction was an immediate hit because the plants ripened perfect 5-6” fruits dramatically earlier than other varieties. Harvested fresh, however, makes all the difference. Space plants 16” apart.

Fairy Tale (65 days) Purple-and-white mini eggplant. Attractive, 2–4" long by 3/4–1 1/4" diameter, fruits are borne abundantly on compact 18-24" plants. Wonderful flavor with no bitterness and very few seeds. Some fruits may be harvested in clusters. Green calyx. AAS winner.

Fengyuan Purple (65 days) Plant produces good yields of slender 12" long purple eggplants. This is the longest eggplant available. The creamy white flesh is non-bitter. The skin is so thin that peeling is not necessary. Excellent choice for home gardens and specialty market growers. A Taiwan heirloom.

Listada de Gandia (75 – 90 days) Old heirloom from the Valencia, Spain. Fruits are 5-6" long with white and purple stripes with excellent flavor and very thin skin, does not require peeling. One of the most popular heirloom types, this one has 7-inch long fruit that is white with lovely bright purple stripes. They are so beautiful and have fabulous flavor with sweet, tender flesh.

Millionaire Hybrid (55 days) Smooth, very attractive, Japanese type with fine flavor. Delicious in stir-fry dishes. Slender fruits, 2" across, 8 to 10" long, are borne early on upright plants. Proven tops for performance, flavor and wide adaptability. The stunning eggplant is as easy to grow as peppers but thrives in hotter weather. Days to maturity is figured from the time you set plants in the garden. Space plants 2 to 3' apart.
