As an educational charity, we encourage and celebrate work in television and its related fields, from finding out how the nation’s favourite shows are made in our Anatomy of a Hit series, to celebrating burgeoning talent at our annual Student Awards. The industry’s most talented individuals give us an insight into the work that goes into making cutting edge contemporary TV. From Government ministers and CEOs to workshops with great runners, our events look at every part of the business. Our annual Television Journalism, Programme, Craft and Design, and Student Awards celebrate achievements across the broadcasting industry. Each year, we offer Television Production and Technology bursaries to help those from less affluent backgrounds get a foothold in the industry, and Masterclass sessions bring together students, academics and industry heads. Global television leaders gather to discuss what the future holds for television at our London Conference or the RTS Cambridge Convention. Alongside our engaged community of around 5,000 full members, the Society is supported by Britain and the world's biggest broadcasters, producers and consultants, including Principal Patrons BBC, Channel 4, ITV and Sky. Originally founded as the Television Society in 1927, the Society was granted its Royal title in 1966 and HRH The Prince of Wales became Patron of the RTS in 1997.

    PRESS RELEASE THE ROYAL TELEVISION SOCIETY ANNOUNCES CRAFT & DESIGN AWARDS 2019 NOMINATIONS London, 7 November 2019 – The Royal Television Society (RTS), Britain’s leading forum for television and related media, has shortlisted the nominations for its 2019 Craft & Design Awards, sponsored by Gravity Media. Chernobyl leads the way with seven nominations, followed by Don’t Forget the Driver, Killing Eve and The Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance all receiving nominations across three categories. The prestigious awards will be presented at a ceremony hosted by political comedian Ahir Shah on Monday 25th November at the London Hilton, Park Lane. The RTS Craft & Design Awards celebrate excellence in broadcast television and aim to recognise the huge variety of skills and processes involved in programme production across 30 categories ranging from Make Up Design: Drama to Director: Multicamera, with the RTS Special Award and the Lifetime Achievement Award being given at the discretion of the RTS.     2020 WINNERS ANNOUNCED FOR ROYAL TELEVISION SOCIETY PROGRAMME AWARDS London, Tuesday 17th March, 2020: The Royal Television Society (RTS), Britain’s leading forum for television and related media, announced the winners of the prestigious Royal Television Society Programme Awards, in partnership with Audio Network, this evening behind closed doors. The winners were revealed by writer and comedian Paul Merton and were streamed live to nominees and viewers at home, via the RTS website. Wayne Garvie, Chair of the RTS Programme Awards said: “We are all facing an incredibly difficult time and rightfully have made responsible changes to the format of the RTS Programme Awards.     PRODUCTION BIOGRAPHIES HARRY WILLIAMS AND JACK WILLIAMS (Written and Created by, Executive Producers) Harry and Jack Williams’ first original production was the six-part comedy drama “Roman’s Empire” for BBC Two/Tiger Aspect. Starring Matt Horne and Chris O'Dowd, it aired on BBC Two in April 2007. They followed this up in 2008 with the 6x60mins comedy drama “Honest” starring Amanda Redman for ITV/Greenlit. Jack has written for all seasons of “Wild at Heart” and together they wrote the comedy pilot “Amazing Dermot” for Rough Cut TV which transmitted as part of the C4 Comedy Lab Pilot season in 2009. Their animated sitcom “Full English” was commissioned by C4 for 6 episodes with Harry and Jack producing themselves through their company Two Brothers Pictures and was animated by Rough Draft Studios, known for their work on “The Simpsons” and “Futurama.” In 2014 they wrote and executive produced the first installment of “The Missing.” Their four-part series, “One Of Us,” aired on BBC One in August 2016. Starring Juliet Stevenson, Joanna Vanderham, John Lynch, Joe Dempsie, Georgina Campbell and Laura Fraser, it was a co-production between Two Brothers Pictures and BBC Scotland. Their six-part series “Rellik” a thriller for BBC One, with New Pictures co-producing will shoot in February 2017, and their six-part series “Liar” began shooting in October 2016, starring Ioan Gruffudd and Joanne Froggatt, produced solely through Two Brothers Pictures. They executive produced the six-part comedy series “Fleabag” for BBC Three and Amazon through Two Brothers, written by and starring Phoebe Waller Bridge, which was nominated for the Critics’ Choice Awards.

Sky Adsmart won the RTS Special Award, the service was recognised because of the ground- breaking work they are doing not only here in the UK but leading the way globally.
