The region around the junction of the rivers Neckar and Rhine is not only very scenic but it also offers many cultural highlights in a very mild Mediterranean climate. Visit the famous cities Speyer with its beautiful cathedral, Heidelberg, the oldest university town in Germany and the ancient imperial city of Worms. On this tour, you will ride your bike on the German wine route through the second largest wine region in Germany. Characteristics of the route Medium You will mainly cycle on flat terrain. Weinstraße Your holiday starts with a tour information meeting and bike fitting. Afterwards, you will have enough time for an evening stroll through the pretty old town of Neustadt. Day 2: Neustadt – Germersheim approx. 50 km Today, you will cycle on pleasant ways from the vineyards, through the Rhine valley, to the cathedral city of Speyer with its medieval city centre. Then, you will follow the river Rhine to Germersheim, where you can visit a fortress from the 19th century. Day 3: Germersheim – Heidelberg approx. 50 km Enjoy the nature along the ancient Rhine channels and follow them until you reach Schwetzingen, where you can marvel at the royal palace and the beautiful park. The tour will continue through the Rhine valley to Heidelberg, home of Germany’s oldest university. Visit the famous castle and the unique old town directly on the river Neckar. Day 4: Heidelberg – Worms approx. 45 km Follow the river Neckar to Ladenburg. The many half-timbered houses create a unique atmosphere. You will cycle through vast forest areas in the Rhine valley to the ancient imperial city of Worms with its legendary cathedral. Day 5: Worms – Bad Dürkheim approx. 40 km You will leave the Rhine valley and cycle on the German wine route into the second largest wine region in Germany. You will experience wine culture in small and large wine villages, get to know the history and stories of the times of the Romans until today and taste very good Pfalz wine. Day 6: Bad Dürkheim – Neustadt approx. 20 km Today, you will have much time to enjoy yourself in the beautiful wine villages with their unique atmosphere. You will visit Deidesheim and cycle via the region called “Balcony of the Pfalz” to Neustadt. Vorwort Die vorliegende Übersicht „Die größten Arbeitgeber in Rheinland-Pfalz 2019” stellt beschäftigungs - starke Unternehmen aus Industrie, Handel und Dienstleistung vor und gibt diesen die Möglichkeit, ihre wirtschaftliche Bedeutung in der Öffentlichkeit zu präsentieren. Die 137 Unternehmen beschäftigen zwischen 500 und 35.000 Personen – in der Summe sind es rund 221.000 Arbeitsplätze. In den Betrieben arbeiten demzufolge rund 16 Prozent der landesweit rund 1,4 Mio. sozialversicherungspflichtig Beschäftigten. Darüber hinaus tragen diese großen Unter - nehmen wesentlich zur Wertschöpfung und auch mittelbar zum wirtschaftlichen Wohlstand der Region bei, indem sie Arbeitsplätze bei Lieferanten und Dienstleistern sichern. Die Industrie hat mit 83 Unternehmen einen bedeutenden Anteil an den größten Arbeitgebern in Rheinland-Pfalz. Hohe Beschäftigtenzahlen finden sich vor allem bei den Automobilzulieferern, dem Maschinen- und Fahrzeugbau sowie den Herstellern von Chemie-, Kunststoff- und Pharmaprodukten. Im Handel finden sich größere Arbeitgeber vor allem im Lebensmittelhandel, Bau- und Heimwerker - bedarf sowie Möbelhandel. Im Dienstleistungsbereich sind größere Belegschaften insbesondere im Gesundheitswesen, bei Kreditinstituten und Finanzdienstleistern anzutreffen. Befragt wurden IHK-Mitgliedsunternehmen ab 500 Mitarbeiter, die entweder ihren Hauptsitz, eine Zweigniederlassung oder eine große Einzelbetriebsstätte in Rheinland-Pfalz unterhalten. Die Angaben zu den Beschäftigtenzahlen (Vollzeit und Teilzeit) wurden von den meisten Unternehmen zum 1. März 2019 erhoben und sind für Rheinland-Pfalz, Deutschland und die gesamte Welt kumuliert. Nicht erfasst wurden Mini-Jobber, Aushilfen und andere Formen geringfügiger Beschäftigung. Die Liste wird alle drei Jahre aktualisiert. Die Übersicht beruht auf den freiwilligen Angaben der Unternehmen und erhebt keinen Anspruch auf Vollständigkeit. Die Auflistung wurde aus öffentlich zugänglichen Quellen ergänzt.

Dezember 2020 wurden heute in Herxheim an der Kirche im Beisein von Staatssekretär Andy Becht, Ministerium für Wirtschaft, Verkehr, Landwirtschaft und Weinbau sowie Landrat Dietmar Seefeldt, Kreis Südliche Weinstraße, Erster Kreisbeigeordneter Georg Kern sowie Bürgermeisterin Hedi Braun, Verbandsgemeinde Herxheim zwei neue Fahrzeuge stellvertretend für den Busverkehr präsentiert. Die Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Neckar GmbH (VRN) hat im Auftrag der Landkreise Germersheim, Südliche Weinstraße, der Stadt Landau und Mannheim/Herxheim des Zweckverbandes SPNV RLP Süd das Linienbündel Südpfalz 8. Dezember 2020 Germersheim Nord, Mitte und Süd europaweit neu ausgeschrieben. th-PR/47-20 (VRN) Das Wettbewerbsverfahren wurde durch Zuschlag für den Bereich Germersheim Nord an die QNV Südpfalz Nahverkehrsgesellschaft GmbH (QNV) mit Sitz in Münchweiler an der Rodalb, für den Bereich Germersheim Mitte an das Unternehmen Hetzler & Pfadt GmbH & Co KG sowie für den Bereich Germersheim Süd an die DB Regio Bus Mitte vergeben. Die Verkehrsleistungen wurden an die Betreiber für die nächsten zehn Jahre übertragen. Staatssekretär Andy Becht, Ministerium für Wirtschaft, Verkehr, Landwirtschaft und Weinbau zur Vergabe: „Busse aus der Region für die Region: besser geht es nicht. Mit dem neu konzipierten Linienbündel gibt es für die Fahrgäste eine echte Verbesserung. Da haben Verbund, Aufgabenträger und Gemeinde sehr gut zusammengearbeitet. Mich freut besonders, dass sich zwei regionale mittelständische Unternehmen in der Vergabe durchsetzen konnten. Und sogar die Kleinbusse kommen von hier: sie werden in Herxheim gefertigt.
