From: HEAD OF PLANNING & DEVELOPMENT Date: 6 JUNE 2007 Ref: DPT/16/00/16/GL 1. PURPOSE OF REPORT 1.1 This report seeks to advise Committee of the tender process and action taken by the Executive Director of Corporate Services, following consultation with the Convener of the Committee, to appoint Coltart Contracts Ltd to deliver environmental improvements in Coronation Park, New Stevenston. 2. PROPOSAL 2.1 The contract relates to Coronation Park, New Stevenston, a formal park surrounded by residential, commercial and community premises and the adjacent War Memorial on Coronation Road. Perimeter fencing and pathways will be upgraded. Lighting will be provided and access through the community centre re-orientated to improve parking provision. Under the provisions of the Contract Standing Orders authority was given to prepare a revised Bill of Quantities and negotiate with the lowest tendering company. 3.3 Following this process Coltart Contracts Limited submitted a revised checked tender of f219,082.50.This revised render is within the original cost estimate, is considered to be a fair and reasonable offer and is recommended for acceptance by the appointed Quantity Surveyor, The Rennie Partnership. 3.4 The contract will run for the duration of 16 weeks and implementation will be a phased programme of works. 4 CORPORATE CONSIDERATIONS 4.1 This project contributes to realising the Council’s aim to promote community regeneration - one of the priorities contained in the improving the Environment theme of the Corporate Plan. The cost for carrying out of the works and the fees is covered by the Environmental Services Approved Capital Budget for 07/08,through the Small Communities Programme as well as the Community Regeneration Fund. 5 RECOMMENDATIONS 5.1 The Committee is asked to homologate the decision by the Executive of Director of Corporate Services, following consultation with the Convener of the Committee, to award the contract to deliver the improvements in Coronation Park, New Stevenston in the Motherwell area to Coltart Contracts Limited for a sum of two hundred and nineteen thousand, and eighty two pounds and fifty pence (f219,082.50).
