MESSAGE TO PROSPECTIVE EXHIBITORS

Attracting visitors from near and far, we are extremely proud of the longstanding history and reputation of Keith Show, renowned as one of ’s best and friendliest shows; we are keen to maintain the proud standing and celebrate a tradition of 148 years.

Thank you to all who exhibited at last year’s Show; we hope to see you all again this August. Showing is both time consuming and expensive and we appreciate the support and professionalism that you bring not only to the show ring but also to making our Grand Parade one of the best.

Schedules and entry forms are now available for Cattle, Sheep, Sheep Shearing & Wool, Horses, Show Jumping, Industrial & Horticultural Sections, Vintage Show, Truck Show, Feather Section, Highland Dancing, Dog Show and Crop Competition at www.keithshow.org.uk or contact me as below for printed copies.

Our annual stockjudging competition, sponsored by the Seafield Veterinary Group, is on Sunday 28th July at Corskie Farm, Garmouth, kindly hosted and sponsored by the Green Family. Starting at 1pm there are classes for individuals, teams and young farmers. Beginners are very welcome and there will be plenty of folk only too willing to share their expertise and to explain what to do! There will be some fun classes, a raffle, bar and delicious food. So please come along for an enjoyable afternoon and a good blether.

We are delighted that we are again hosting the Simmers Contracts Scottish Beef Cattle Championship, which is very generously sponsored by Simmers Contracts of Backmuir, Keith. The competition is open to Beef Champions from all Scottish Shows and attracts entries from across Scotland, providing a terrific and show stopping spectacle.

The Rare & Minority Sheep Sections introduced three years ago has proved to be very well supported and has also boosted the Wool entries. It is good to see that quite a few of the sheep competitors now halter train their sheep and join the Grand Parade.

In the Main Arena on Sunday morning there will be the horse showing classes with Show Jumping in the afternoon. On Monday, the Ridden Clydesdales are a qualifier for the 2019 Bidwells Ridden Clydesdale Championships at Blair Horse Trials and the Clydesdale Horse Young Handler will qualify for the 2020 Royal Highland Show.

On Sunday there will be the popular Poultry & Egg Section, along with Highland Dancing, Balloch Hill Race, Children’s Races, Dog Show, Pets Parade, Tug o’ War and the very well supported Vintage and Truck Shows.

A full programme is lined up on both days, Show Jumping is making a welcome return to the Main Arena with a Mini Major Competition and Six Bar Challenge (SJ invitation only). Other highlights on Sunday include the Strathisla Pipeband Centenary Celebrations with 11 massed Pipebands playing 5 and competing, Horse Parade, Vintage and Truck Parade and on Monday we have the spectacle of the Simmers Contracts Scottish Beef Championship and the Grand Parade.

On both days there will be a fantastic display of horticultural, industrial and craft exhibits along with the Federation SWI exhibits all within the industrial marquee.

The Trade Stand area and also the Food Fayre, Craft Fair and Lifestyle marquees will be packed with a wide choice of goods on sale, along with a delicious range of catering stands and refreshment areas.

A huge thank you has to be extended to the many businesses and individuals who support the Show through generous sponsorship and donations. Their contribution is essential to the Show and is greatly appreciated. There is a wide range of sponsorship packages available and any committee member will be happy to provide details.

Wishing you all success in your showing this year.
