RESPONSE # Agenda Items Discussion Action Point \ Decision 1 UNICEF: IDP Response: Constructing a new prefab school in Ashty camp the progress 15%. Providing 11 Prefabs to Al-Majid school in Qoratu camp, the total number of the beneficiaries 380 students (165 Female & 215 Male). Providing 13 Prefabs to Al-Wand2 camp school, the total number of the beneficiaries 580 students (298 Female & 286 Male). Providing 2 prefabs to Astera primary school in Khanaqin, the total number of beneficiaries is 650 female. Providing transportation by 6 buses for 137 IDP teachers from Suli to camps (75 Male & 62 Female). Refugee Response: Providing transportation for Syrian 1,222 Syrian refugee students (625 boys & 597 Girls) by 41 buses in 8 Syrian Refugee schools. Implementing the SBM approach in 8 Syrian refugee schools in Suli: Total 3290, F 1,656 – M 1,634. Host community Response: Implementing the SBM approach in 36 Host community schools in Suli and Garmian Total number of beneficiaries 17,120 students, (Girls 8,086 – Boys 9,034). Conducting LEGO training in 12 schools and 15 Kindergarten in Garmain and Khanaqin for 514 teachers, (414 Females and 100 Male) teachers participated in the training and total number of students who benefit from the training is: Life skills activities in Suli, Halabja, Garmian, and Khanaqin, in 37 host community schools, the total number of beneficiaries, 947 students (546 Boys & 401 Girls). Education Cluster Meeting Minutes 3 2 Mercy Corps: – Advancing Adolescents Program: AA program has conducted series of trainings during the month of April for coaches and youth leaders in preparation for second cycle of program implementations. Training contents were around topics: Designed Thinking. Peace building. Entalik (123, Move Curriculum). M&E & HR And recently 6 days of psychosocial training under: Profound Stress & Attunement. Community reach out to identify needs of adolescents in term of recreational and psychosocial programing. FGDs had been conducted with adolescents ages 12 – 18 from three communities (IDP/REF/H.C). Schools and Centers have been prepared and equipped with materials. 3 IRC: PTA orientation and activity in 6 schools for 42 parents and 24 teachers (Amouda, SariKani, Afrin, Kobani, Frishta, and KamilBasir). TLC activity in 6 schools with 75 facilitators (Amouda, SariKani, Afrin, Kobani, Frishta, and KamilBasir). Paying incentives for Refugee volunteers in refugee schools. (197 teachers, and 38 non-teaching staff). Tutoring program for 100 underperformance students in Amouda School. Paying incentives for 6 Tutors from Refugee community. Providing hygiene kits for 6 schools (Amouda, SariKani, Afrin, Kobani, Frishta, and KamilBasir). Providing microscope, Lab tubes, world earth globe, and one dictionary arabic-arabic-Kurdish to Afreen School. Providing two Kerosin heaters, water hose 75 meters, 5 pieces of Arabic alphabet posters, 5 set geometric shapes, 5 pieces montessori math, 5 pieces Montessori Math toys, 5 pieces science puzzels, 245 copy books, 140 sets of coloring pencils, 140 set (Pencil, Pen, Eraser, and Pencil Sharpener), 5 Hula Hoops for Amooda school. Providing 2 pieces of Office desk with drawer, one iron locker, and 2 swivel office hair for Frishta School. Providing 1 set of geometric tools, providing 3 white boards, providing sport package ( 4balls, 1 skipping rope, and 1 pump), and 1 printer cartridge for Kamil Basir school. Providing sport package (4 balls, 1 skipping rope, and 1 pump), 5 Hula hoops. 4 QANDIL: 1- PTA parent teacher association took place in six schools including (Shahid, Kobani, Hawar, Mam, Mashtanoor and Grespi) during the second week of April. 2- Catch up classes: During the second week of April Qandil started distribution of the stationaries including (Textbook, Pencil, Pencil case, Pencil sharpener, eraser, highlighter and ministry exam questionaries’ book) to 139 students of the 9th and 12th grade that registered for the catch up classes therefore the catch up classes started in the last week of April in the schools of (Afren, Sarikany, Grespi, Derek, Amooda, Mam and Barkhudan). 3- Sport and recreational activities: - Preparation of the materials has been done and coordination for the starting of the activities during the third week of April. - Qandil has started distribution of the sport and recreation activities items during the last week of April in the schools of Grespi (about 59 students) and Mam (about 30 students), Kobani (about 100 students), Barkhudan (about 49 students) and Derek (about 25 students). - The activities started in the selected schools during the last week of April. 4- Minor rehabilitation in the six refugee’s schools: - From the 2nd until the last week of April, Qandil site engineer visited the schools including (Mashtanoor in Qaladze, Amooda in Arbat camp, Kobani in Khabat, Sagirma in Chamchamal, Afren in Bainjan, Gyarang in Rania and Barkhudan in Arbat camp) for the school rehabilitation assessment and needs. - During the last week of April QANDIL site engineer prepared the BOQs and shared with UNHCR. Education Cluster Meeting Minutes 4 5 PWJ: Project title: Emergency Humanitarian Assistance for Syrian Refugees, IDPs and Host Communities in Northern Iraq (Sulaymaniyah and surrounding areas) Project duration: April 1, 2017 - February 28, 2018 Project component 2: Education (Construction of Schools) Project outcome: Construction of two new 13 classroom prefabricated schools for non-camp refugees and IDPs in Chamshamal and Haji Awa, Ranya district. April 2017: Confirmed the project implementation with the Education cluster Coordinated with the local Directorates of Education for site visits and finalization of BoQs Started preparation for invitation to bidding (ITB) REACH: Total number of beneficiaries 727 had participated in Bazian , Banjan and Rapareen community centers from different target groups refugee, IDP and host community for psychosocial support , catch up training, languages , sport activities for social cohesion and improving their skills , reintegration and rehabilitation , more PSS activities with IDP , refugee and host communities in all 3 centers : Adults 18 and more Refugee IDP Local Male Female Male Female Male Female Total 121 127 183 119 75 102 727 Children activities by painting and express their feeling through painting. PSS activities for children and youth for social cohesion between different groups IDP, refugee and host community. Study support ( physic , chemic , Math , Arabic ) Activities for children in child friendly spaces in Bazian and Bainjan. Computer training in community centers. Art activity. Music training. Sport activities (ping pong and tennis, basketball). English training from different target groups. IDP students participated in catch up and study support in Bazian community center. Sorani (Kurdish) training. Children participated in kindergarten activities in 3 community center. Children participated in Arabic language training. STEP: 1- Organizing and held a Sports Activity in Qaladze to strengthen social cohesion and achieving psychosocial wellbeing of children. The activity included 75 IDPs (40m; 35f) and 30 Refugees (9m; 21f)- 105 children in total 2- Establishing one Youth Committee consisting of 10 girls including IDPs, Refugees, and host community. This Youth Committee will have regular meetings to create their ToRs and later on decide on their Activity Plan.
