Tour Itinerary (EP 2) Pelling – Namchi (Chardham) Gangtok - Lachung (Yumthang) Tour Itinerary (EP 2) Day 1: Bagdogra - Pelling: Arrive Bagdogra airport /New Jailpaiguri station till 14:00 & proceed to Pelling (6-8 hrs. journey). Onarrival the day is free at leisure. Night halt at Pelling. Day 2: Pelling: After breakfast sightseeing of Kecheopalri Lake, Kanchanjunga water Falls&Pemyang Monastery. After lunch day free for rest. Night halt at Pelling. Day 3: Pelling – Gangtok: After breakfast proceed to Gangtok (7-8 hrs. journeys) enroute visit the famous Namchi Chardham temple, enjoy your lunch here. Arrive Gangtok and check in at hotel. Evening is free for rest. Night halt at Gangtok Day 4: Gangtok: After breakfast we will proceed for memorable tour of Tshangu lake situated at 12,400 feet above sea level in the eastern part of Sikkim which is known for its natural beauty. Night halt at Gangtok. Day 5: Gangtok – Lachung: After early lunch we will depart to Lachung (6 hrs. journey, subject to permit) en route enjoy scenic views of Seven Sister Water Falls & Mangan View. Night halt at Lachung. Day 6: Lachung – Yumthang – Lachung: Morning to afternoon explore the Natural beauty of Yumthang Valley & Yumi Somdom (Zero Point). Night halt at Lachung. Day 7: Lachung – Gangtok: After breakfast we will proceed for Gangtok (6 hrs. journey). Arrive Gangtok and rest of the day is free at leisure. Night halt at Gangtok. Day 8: Gangtok: After breakfast sightseeing of Gangtok which includes International Flower Show, Vanjageri Falls, museum , Stupa and also enjoy Gondola Cable Car Ride (at your own cost). After lunch free time for shopping at the famous M.G. Road. Night halt at Gangtok. Day 9: Gangtok – New Jalpaiguri / Bagdogra – Train / Air Journey: After breakfast at 06:00 am transfer to New Jalpaigudi station /Bagdogra airport (Flight/Train To Be Booked after 14:00 onwards) with memorable experience of the tour conducted by Heena Tours & Travels. INTRODUCTION The present study gives out the grammatical sketch of Lepcha language spoken in Sikkim state based on the data collected during the field investigation from June 1997 to September 1997. 1.1 FAMILY AFFILIATION According to Grierson (1909: Vol. III) Lepcha Language belongs to the Non- Pronominalized Himalayan group of TibetoBurman sub family. As per the subsequent classification by Paul Benedict Lepcha (in Sikkim) belongs to the “Himalayan” group of “Tibetan –Kanauri (Bodish-Himalaya)” branch of Tibeto Burman sub-family. [Benedict: 1972] 1.2 LOCATION According to G. A. Grierson 1909 (reprint 1967,p-233) the Lepchas are considered as the oldest inhabitants of Sikkim. They are also found in Western Bhutan, Eastern Nepal and in Darjeeling district of West Bengal. In Indian Census the Lepcha is returned mainly from Sikkim and West Bengal. 1.3 SPEAKERS STRENGTH Language-Mother Tongue- Bilingualism The speakers’ strength of Lepcha in respect of language / mother tongue and bilingualism/ trilingualism as per 2001 Census publication is given below.
