The campaign attracted 19 founders, however the amount did not reach the set target of 100 000€. Young Researchers and Students to ESOF2014

The active participation of young researchers, in the early stages of their careers, in ESOF is a major contributor to the success of the meetings. Their presence greatly enriches the Scientific Programme, and a parallel Careers Programme addresses many of their particular interests and concerns. On the other hand ESOF provides young researchers and students with a unique opportunity to listen to and interact with leading scientists from fields outside their own specialty. However, young researchers and students have limited resources for attending international meetings and cost can be a prohibitive barrier to participation.

EuroScience is actively helping to bring young researchers and students to ESOF2014.

Science Bus

EuroScience is approaching universities to support young researchers and students to attend ESOF 2014.

EuroScience and the ESOF local organizers wish to encourage and promote the participation of groups of graduate and PhD candidates. The groups will reach Copenhagen by bus (ideally a low emission vehicle). Selected participants will have access to all ESOF 2014 programmes and to the specific sessions dedicated to young researchers. This project is based on the successful Barcelona and Torino Science Bus event, realized by the ESOF 2008 and ESOF 2010 Team that brought to Barcelona 40 and to Torino 30 students.

Interested universities are invited to contact the EuroScience Office for further information.

Individual grants

EuroScience is organizing a fundraising campaign to sponsor individual young researchers and students to attend ESOF 2014.

Interested sponsors are invited to contact the EuroScience Office for further information.

European Calls and Projects

Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) TOOLS The RRI TOOLS project submitted under the FP7 SiS Work programme, has been selected as successful and the negotiation process is ongoing. The coordinator of the project is La Caixa Foundation and EuroScience is involved in WP1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and is also the leader of the WP6 on ‘Communication and Dissemination’. Altogether there are 27 partners, with the total of 6 942 173€ funded by the EC. The project duration is 36 months with a presumed start at the beginning of 2014.

Project summary:

This project will develop and use a Training and Dissemination Toolkit on Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI). It will be addressed and designed by all the stakeholders of the Research and Innovation (RI) chain of value, including Researchers, Civil Society, Industry and Education but will specially focus on Policy Makers in order to impact significantly in the future governance of RI.

EPITRUST The proposal entitled "EPIdemics mutual learning for building TRUST” where EuroScience is the coordinator has been favourably evaluated. However, given the proposal’s position in the ranked lists of proposals, it is unlikely that this will receive funding.

Project summary:

Its goal is to establish a series of recommendations and tools emanating from collaboration between ID stakeholders.

STOA EuroScience has submitted a tender to a STOA Call for providing services in the area of science, technology and innovation policy for the next 4 years. EuroScience leads a consortium. The outcome should be communicated soon.
