The tutorial describes the different sources of reset and interrupt events and provides detailed training on 68HC08 MCU exception processing. Please note that on subsequent pages, you will find reference buttons in the upper right of the content window that access additional content. Upon completion of this tutorial, you’ll be able to describe the differences between resets and interrupts, identify different sources of reset and interrupt events, and describe MCU exception processing. The recommended prerequisite for this tutorial is the 68HC08 CPU training module. It is also assumed that you have a basic knowledge of reset and interrupt events. Click the Forward arrow when you’re ready to begin the tutorial. 1 Resets and Interrupts Overview • Reset sources: - External - power on, reset pin driven low - Internal - COP, LVI, illegal opcode, illegal address • Resets initialize the MCU to startup condition. • Interrupt sources: - Hardware - Software • Interrupts vector the program counter to a service routine. Resets and interrupts are responses to exceptional events during program execution. Resets can be caused by a signal on the external reset pin or by an internal reset signal. -

Predicting Search Task Difficulty Jaime Arguello University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill [email protected] Abstract. Search task difficulty refers to a user's assessment about the amount of effort required to complete a search task. Our goal in this work is to learn predictive models of search task difficulty. We evaluate features derived from the user's interaction with the search engine as well as features derived from the user's level of interest in the task and level of prior knowledge in the task domain. In addition to user-interaction fea- tures used in prior work, we evaluate features generated from scroll and mouse-movement events on the SERP. In some situations, we may prefer a system that can predict search task difficulty early in the search session. To this end, we evaluate features in terms of whole-session evidence and first-round evidence, which excludes all interactions starting with the second query. Our results found that the most predictive features were different for whole-session vs. first-round prediction, that mouseover fea- tures were effective for first-round prediction, and that level of interest and prior knowledge features did not improve performance. 1 Introduction Search engine users engage in a wide variety of search tasks. A large body of prior research focused on characterizing different types of search tasks (see Li and Belkin [10]). The motivation behind this prior work is to understand how task characteristics influence search behavior and how search systems can provide customized interactions for different task types. Foster 11.1 Introduction Inexperienced programmers usually think their program will always work as expected. On the other hand, experienced programmers know that things do not always work as expected. Smart programming is about taking care of the expected as well as the unexpected. Programmers refer to the unexpected situations as exceptions. The following are some examples of scenarios that will cause program errors (exceptions): . The user enters a character where an integer is expected; . The program uses an array subscript that is outside of the range of valid subscript values for a given array; . An attempt is made at dividing by zero; . An attempt is made to write to a file that does not exist. There are three broad categories of programming errors: . Syntax errors . Logic errors . Runtime errors We have already shown how programming languages take care of syntax errors through the translation process (review lecture 3). Logic errors are the responsibility of the programmer, but programming languages help by providing debugging features that the programmer can use. -

The fancytooltips package∗y Robert Maˇr´ık [email protected] May 4, 2009 1 Introduction The package fancytooltips is a package for LATEX. The pdf can be created by pdflatex or by latex + dvips + AdobeDistiller1 + Adobe Acrobat2. It allows to create tooltips in a similar way like cooltooltips package, but the tooltip is a page from another PDF file. In this way you can use mathematics, pictures and animations in your tooltips. The resulting PDF file can be used also with free Abobe Reader. The tooltips are activated by clicking the active area on the screen and deac- tivated after closing page or by moving mouse outside the link. You can try the links here (Einstein's formula) and also here (animation { numbers from 1 to 6). You have to use the free Adobe Reader or nonfree Adobe Acrobat to see the effect (xpdf, evince and others fail to work with JavaScripts). For more examples how the presentation may look like see the example.pdf and example-min.pdf files in the examples subdirectory. The buttons are created using eforms.sty which is a part of AcroTeX bundle. 2 Usage 2.1 The file with tooltips The file with tooltips is an ordinary pdf file, one tooltip per page, tooltips should be in the top right corner at the page, in a colored box and the rest of the page should be transparent. If you consider to use movetips option (see below), then every page should have the dimensions equal to the dimen- sions of the colored box with tooltip3. -

32 The Three-Dimensional User Interface Hou Wenjun Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications China 1. Introduction This chapter introduced the three-dimensional user interface (3D UI). With the emergence of Virtual Environment (VE), augmented reality, pervasive computing, and other "desktop disengage" technology, 3D UI is constantly exploiting an important area. However, for most users, the 3D UI based on desktop is still a part that can not be ignored. This chapter interprets what is 3D UI, the importance of 3D UI and analyses some 3D UI application. At the same time, according to human-computer interaction strategy and research methods and conclusions of WIMP, it focus on desktop 3D UI, sums up some design principles of 3D UI. From the principle of spatial perception of people, spatial cognition, this chapter explained the depth clues and other theoretical knowledge, and introduced Hierarchical Semantic model of “UE”, Scenario-based User Behavior Model and Screen Layout for Information Minimization which can instruct the design and development of 3D UI. This chapter focuses on basic elements of 3D Interaction Behavior: Manipulation, Navigation, and System Control. It described in 3D UI, how to use manipulate the virtual objects effectively by using Manipulation which is the most fundamental task, how to reduce the user's cognitive load and enhance the user's space knowledge in use of exploration technology by using navigation, and how to issue an order and how to request the system for the implementation of a specific function and how to change the system status or change the interactive pattern by using System Control.
