The appearance of Proetidae during the Middle Devonian here is relatively late when compared Abstract to abundant Early Devonian occurrences elsewhere, e.g. in Bohemia (S n a jd r , 1980) and Morocco (ALBERTI, New data are presented on trilobites of the family Proetidae 1969). In the Ardennes, the stratigraphically earliest (subfamilies Proetinae, Dechenellinae, Cornuproetinae) from the confirmed records of Proetidae come from the lower Devonian of the Ardennes Massif and the Eifel Hills (Rhenohercynian zone).
