Aswe celebrate 20 years of caring for the community. we look back with appreciation to all of the people who helped us get to where we are today. We've taken some big steps through the past 20 years. Merging the Mattoon Memorial and CharlestonCommunity hospi- tals was no small feat in itself. And since then we've added a RegionalCancer Center; established six busy communityclinics;

added countlessprograms and services; added nearly 115.000 square feet during our recent construction; and built a solid staff of physicians. Every step of the way. we've been blessed with the support of so many fine people: our founders, board members,donors, employees,volunteers - and of course the residents of all of the communitieswe serve, whose trust and confidencewe've worked so hard to earn. Our thanks to each and every one. We couldn't have done it without you! I I I- l BUSH LaJC~N I €dS1000 Health HEALTHCcntu DriveSYSTEM RO. Page 2 Comments From The Artistic Director Someoneonce said it takes three elementsto make theatre: a performer, aspace in which to perform, and an audience. Without you, that vitalthird element, there would be no the- atre - not in Sullivan, not in Chicago, not even on Broadway. So, you can see how impor- tant you are to us, not just because you fuel our coffers, but because you fuel our very artis- tic soul! If you see Lost World or watch reruns of Roseanne, no matter how you react, the dinosaurs (reptilian or human) clon't change their behavioral patterns.You have no effect, other than financial, on their performances.In theatre, your presence and reactions alter the energy, the very chemistry, of every single performance.In simple terms, we need you to make our performance complete. It is, therefore, altogether appropri- hlI.Seth Reines -Artistic Director ate as we celebrate our 40th Season, that we take time to thank Seth is delighted to be returning for his 10th season as Artistic you, our audience, for being an essential part of our theatrical Director of The Little Theatre.Over the past 25 years, Seth has directed over350 productions for stage andtelevision, includ- process. ing National Toursof Sunday In The Park With George and South Pacific and AIDS benefits with such stars as Angela In the past, we have presented productions that were often Lansbury, Peter Allen, Chita Rivera, Jeny Herman and Oprah. artistically successful, occasionally intellectually challenging, Seth wishes to thank Lenny, Lori and Arlene for 10 years of invaluablesupport, this gifted company oftheatre artistsfor all and, hopefully, always vastly entertaining. In the future, we their wonderful work and caring, andJR and Millie for their promise to continue to delight, as well as challenge and inspire continuing love and inspiration. It is fun to spend this exciting you. After all, you are our important "Third Element." 40th season with so many special friends!

Page 28 The Little Theatre On The Square Dressing Room Donors We wish to thank the following individuals and businesses who have made contributions to help us refurbish our dress- ing room space. Our first project was supplying the dressing rooms with heat in time for our 1996 Christmas production. New air conditioning was installed prior to this summer's opening performance. The actors and actresses of the company are grateful as well to those of you who helped make these improvements possible. Additional remodeling will be done as time and funds permit.
