FRIDAY, october 7, 2016 ROCKAWAY POINT NEWS PAGE 3 EDITORIAL By Noreen Schramm The Waiting Game Hurricane Matthew has moved over Haiti and Eastern Cuba and as of this writing is rebuilding in the warm waters by the Bahamas with an eye on Florida. But what does this mean to us here in New York? Well since in 2012, we here in New York City, and especially us folks living along the Atlantic shoreline, have been very cognizant about any and all storms in the ocean and their possible affect on us. It’s basically a waiting game and having said that by the time you are reading this editorial this weekend, we will know more as to where this storm is going. But as we said before it is all a waiting game. Right now our prayers are for the people of Haiti, the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. They need much help, as we well know from our experience with Superstorm Sandy, in rebuilding. Right now as evacuation orders are being issued for parts of Florida Sugar Bowl and South Carolina, we can only hope and pray that the storm stays out to sea but come what may we should have an answer to where Matthew is headed by halloween the time you read this newspaper.
