Mr. Alessi began musical studies in his native California with his father, Joseph Alessi, Sr. He performed with the San Francisco Ballet Orchestra and was a soloist with the San Francisco Symphony before continuing his musical training at Philadelphia's Curtis Institute of Music. Prior to joining the Philharmonic, he was second trombone of the Philadelphia Orchestra for four seasons and principal trombone of L'Orchestre Symphonique de Montreal for one season. Mr. Alessi is an active soloist, recitalist and chamber music performer. In April 1990, he made his solo debut with the New York Philharmonic, performing Creston's Fantasy for Trombone and Orchestra. He has been a guest artist with the Lincoln Symphony and the Colorado Philharmonic and has appeared in recitals at colleges and universities in the eastern United States. He is a member of the Summit Brass ensemble at the Keystone Brass Institute in Colorado. Currently on the faculties of the Juilliard School and the Mannes School of Music, Mr. Alessi has taught at Temple University in Philadelphia and the Grand Teton Music Festival in Wyoming. He has also given master classes in many parts of the world. His recent master classes were held at Dartmouth College, Kansas University, Arizona State University and the Cleveland Institute of Music. Joseph Alessi's most recent recordings include Mahler's Third and Seventh Symphonies with Leonard Bernstein and the New York Philharmonic for Deutsche Grammophon and recordings with the Canadian Brass for Sony Classical and Philips Records. Jeffrey Uhlig has appeared in many concerts in the United States as collaborative pianist. Some of his notable performances have been at The Phillips Collection in Washington, D. C., the Mozart on the Square Festival in Philadelphia and Weill Recital Hall in New York. After a joint recital at Weill Recital Hall, Tim Page of The New York Times wrote: "Mr. Uhlig ... proved a Mozartean of poise and elegance." Mr. Uhlig studied piano with William Masselos and Gaby Casadesus and studied art song literature with Dalton Baldwin. He received the Master of Music Degree from West Chester University. He has performed with many outstanding singers and instrumentalists and is frequently heard with members of the Philadelphia Orchestra and Joseph Alessi. Jeffrey Uhlig is in demand as a chamber music player, vocal coach and ' accompanist. He is pianist and vocal coach for Toe Ocean City Pops Orchestra in Ocean City, New Jersey, and is Resident Accompanist at Philadelphia's Settlement Music School. Also, he is accompanist for Singing City Choir in Philadelphia with which he recently completed a concert tour of the Soviet Union. .
