May 2020 Hi Everyone, We have been in lockdown for a number of weeks now and we wanted to let you know what we’ve been up to at Yell Community Council (YCC). We also want to check in with everyone and see how you are getting on. YCC have been selected to act as a Community Anchor Organisation (CAO) during the COVID-19 pandemic on behalf of the people of Yell. This has meant we have successfully applied for money to specifically help members of the community who are most impacted. We have formed a sub group of people (listed below) who we hope you will approach if you have any issues or questions. If they don’t know the answer they will find out for you and come back to you. We are keen to hear from anyone who may need help, who you are worried about, who may wish to volunteer or have idea / information to share. We are initially sending a letter but we may follow some people up with a phone call or email. Please contact us if you need help - This pandemic has affected us all in different and sometimes unexpected ways. If you need help with shopping, collecting medication, affording the increased fuel or food bills, worried about your business or you just feel totally isolated then please get in contact with us. We can either help directly or use our links with other organisations to find the information you may require. All enquiries will be treated in complete confidence. Please contact us if you would like to volunteer - perhaps you have a bit more time on your hands and would be happy to phone people and see how they are getting along. Please contact us if you have information or ideas we can help you share - if you are doing something locally or between neighbours that might benefit others, like book drops, making masks for example, we will be happy to share that. Please contact us and let us know how you would like to receive information. We all like to receive information in different ways, so if you prefer phonecalls, emails or are happy to access information by facebook, please let us know. We have put a list of useful local facebook pages at the end of this correspondence. Please let one of us know if you are happy to receive future correspondence by email.
