Annexure A 72-74 27. 4 INTRODUCTION Flood is a recurrent annual phenomenon in Sonipat, causing loss to life, property, livelihood activity, physical infrastructure etc. The flood strikes in district Sonipat whenever rivers Yamuna is in spate due to excessive rain causing water logging in low-lying areas of the district. Similarly when there are heavy rains in the catchment area of the diversion drain No. 8, the village along the drain are flooded. Yamuna Protection Bund was constructed some year back to save the area from floods. So the district administration according to the Flood Manual of Haryana Government prepares Flood Control Order every year to make proper arrangement to face such an emergency situation. In flood control order the most vulnerable villages of district sonipat are divided into 22 zones, Manoli Toki and Garhi Ashadpur are the most flood prone villages in the district. A Nodal officer is appointed for each zone to look after, supervise & ensure essential services by liaison with the district administration, affected people and nodal officers of line departments. It Include information about all important telephone numbers, contact persons, resource inventory, relief material, health facilities, water resources, police stations, skilled human resource, Shelter places, and etc. Flood Control Order also provides information about control rooms established in district to collect and disseminate information of flood like situation. Machhri Link Drain It starts from village Machri and outfalls near at village Macnri in west Juan drain. Its length is 5000 ft and discharge is 30 cs. It covers village Machri. 2. Jaji Link Drain It starts from village Jaji and outfalls near at village Jaji in west Juan drain. Its length is 3750 ft and its discharge is in 32 cs. It covers Jaji village. 7 3. Bhatgaon Link Drain It starts from village Bhatgaon and outfalls near at village Bhatgaon in Bhatgaon Khanda drain. RD No. 59,000. Its length is 3500 ft and discharge is 11 cs. It covers village Bhatgaon. 4. Bhatgaon Dogra Link Drain It starts from Lohari Tibba and outfalls near at village Bhatgaon in Khanda drain. Its length is 5750 ft. Its discharge is 10 cs. It covers villages Lohari Tibba and Bhatgaon. 5. Khanda Drain It starts from Bhatgaon and outfalls near at village Nasirpur Cholka in DD No.8. Its length is 36000 ft. Its discharge is 219 cs. It covers villages Nir than and Nakloi, Kharidahiya, Sehri, Khanda and Nasirpur Cholka. 6. Nakloi Link Drain It starts from village Nakloi and outfalls near village Nakloi in Khanda drain. Its length is 9000 ft and discharge is 14 cs. It covers villages Nakloi, Nirthan. 7. Bhadana Drain It starts from village Bhadana and outfalls near at village Khanda. Its length is 26500 ft and its discharge is 67 cs. It covers villages Bhadana, Khanda, Jarothi. 8. Silana Link Drain It starts form village Silana and outfalls at D/s Gorar. Its length is 9700 ft and its discharge is 6 cs. It covers village Silana. 9. Sisana Matindu Link Drain It starts from village Sisana and outfalls at Asarafpur Matindu. Its length is 15,650 ft and its discharge is 30 cs. It covers villages Sisana and Matindu. 10. Gorar Pump House Link Drain It starts from village Gorar and outfalls at Jasrana Disty. Its length is 1400 ft. and its discharge is 5 cs. It covers village Gorar. 8 11. Teori Drain It starts from village Teori and outfalls near at Salimpur Majra. Its length is 39,000 ft and its discharge is 100 cs. It covers villages Teori, Moi-Majri, Kailana, Chatia Deva, Rehmana, Salarpur- Trali and Juan. 12. Mehmoodpur Maira Link Drain It starts from village Mehmoodpur Majra and outfalls near at village Majri. Its length is 11,970 ft and its discharge is 15 cs. Its covers village Mehmoodpur Majra. 13. Bohla Link Drain It starts from village Bohla and outfalls near at village Machhri. Its length is 21,900 ft and its discharge is 72 cs. It covers villages Salarpur Majra, Bohla and Mohana. 14. Drain No.6 It starts from Samalkha Town District Panipat and outfalls near at village Akbarpur Barota. Its length is 1, 49,000 ft and discharge is 871 cs. It covers villages Chulkana, Bhora Rasulpur, Kheri Gujar, Khijarpur-Ahir Majra, Garhi Jhanjara, Gummar, Agwanpur, Garhi Rajlu, Jahri, Pahladpur, Sonipat, Bandepur, Kabirpur, Ahmadpur, Jagdishpur and Rathdhana. 15. Sardana Link Drain It starts from village Sardana and outfalls and Bajana Try. No.4 Its length is 13,250 ft and discharge is 10 cs. It covers village Sardana. Fatehpur Drain It starts from village Faehpur and outfalls near at village Garhi Bala. Its length is 6.00 hect and its discharge is 14 cs. It covers villages Fatehpur and Mohmadabad. 20.
