Burke An annotated list of the Curculionoidea (Coleoptem) (excluding Anthribidae, Platypodinae, and Scolytinae) is presented for the Lower Rio Grande Valley (LRGV) of Texas. The list includes species that occur in Cameron, Hidalgo, Starr, and Wigacy counties. Each of the 23S species in 97 genera is tteated according to its geographical range. Lower Rio Grande distribution, seasonal activity, plant associations, and biology. The taxonomic atTangement follows O' Brien &, Wibmer (I og2). A table of the species occuning in patxicular areas of the Lower Rio Grande Valley, such as the Boca Chica Beach area, the Sabal Palm Grove Sanctuary, Bentsen-Rio Grande State Park, and the Falcon Dam area is included. -

In South Africa it has invaded areas in KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga, the North West Province and Limpopo. A biological control programme against parthenium weed was launched in South Africa in 2003, based on the success achieved in Australia. -

Because no taxonomic paper on the Chrysomelidae existed for the state, the present work with the subfamilies Donaciinae, Criocerinae, Clytrinae, Chlamisinae, Eumolpinae, and Chrysomelinae of the eleven subfamilies found in Oklahoma was inaugurated. The chrysomelids are a large family of small or medium-sized beetles. They are generally host specific and sometimes cause extensive damage to field crops and horticultural plants. However, the Donaciinae, Clytrinae, and Chlamisinae are of little economic interest. The economically important species belong to the Criocerinae, Eumolpinae, and·Chrysomelinae. The larvae and adults of these feed on the foliage of plants, except the larvae of Eumolpinae which are primarily rootfeeders. Included in this work are 29 genera contain- ing 59 species of which 54 species are known to occur in the state and five. species are likely to occur here. K1P 6P4, CANADA;[email protected] 3Department of Recent Invertebrates, Virginia Museum of Natural History, 21 Starling Avenue, Martinsville, Virginia 24112; [email protected] ABSTRACT: One-hundred thirty-five taxa (130 identified to species), in at least 97 genera, of weevils (superfamily Curculionoidea) were documented during a 21-year field survey (1998–2018) of the George Washington Memorial Parkway national park site that spans parts of Fairfax and Arlington Counties in Virginia. Twenty-three species documented from the parkway are first records for the state. Of the nine capture methods used during the survey, Malaise traps were the most successful. Periods of adult activity, based on dates of capture, are given for each species. Relative abundance is noted for each species based on the number of captures. Sixteen species adventive to North America are documented from the parkway, including three species documented for the first time in the state. Range extensions are documented for two species. Parthenium impacts broadly on agriculture, biodiversity conservation and health. Elsewhere, significant control has been achieved over time, using a combination of biological control agents. In South Africa, four host-specific biocontrol agents affecting the leaves, stems or seeds of parthenium have been introduced sequentially since 2010, after evaluation of their suitability. Mass-rearing, releases and post-release evaluation of these agents are undertaken to assist widespread establishment. Variable establishment and spread of the agents has occurred. Biocontrol has the potential to contribute significantly to management of the weed, but greater awareness, understanding, and adoption is required in all sectors, including the sugarcane industry. SMICRONYX SMRECZYNSKII, EEN NIEUWE SNUITKEVER VOOR DE NEDERLANDSE FAUNA (COLEOPTERA: CURCULIONIDAe) Theodoor Heijerman & Kees Alders De laatste jaren worden er met enige regelmaat nieuwe snuitkeversoorten voor de Nederlandse fauna gerapporteerd. Ook in deze bijdrage willen we een nieuwe soort voor onze fauna vermelden, namelijk Smicronyx smreczynskii. In 1995 werd er een exemplaar van deze soort verzameld bij Schin op Geul, in het zuiden van de provincie Limburg. Volgens de laatste stand bedroeg het aantal Nederlandse soorten 576 (Heijerman 1997). Met deze aanwinst is het totaal aantal gepubliceerde soorten inmid- dels opgelopen tot 583. inleiding In Midden-Europa komen zeven soorten van het genus Smicronyx Schönherr, 1843 voor. Deze leven allemaal op Cuscuta-soorten, met uitzondering van S. reichii (Gyllenhal, 1836) die op vertegen- woordigers van de Gentianacaea voorkomt. Everts (1887) meldt voor het eerst een Smicronyx-soort voor Nederland, namelijk S. coecus (Reich, 1797) (= S. politus Boheman, 1834). Later noemt Everts (1903) behalve S. coecus ook S. jungermanniae (Reich, 1797) voor Nederland. Everts (1925) noemt naast deze twee soorten ook S. reichii. Deze heeft echter in deze catalogus geen volg- nummer gekregen en dit betekent dat ze niet met zekerheid gevonden is. ABSTRACT Host-specificity test of Zygogramma bicolorata Pallister (Coleoptra: Chrysomelidae) was conducted in the field and laboratory of National Entomology Research Center, Khumaltar, Lalitpur, Nepal during April to September, 2017. Multiple-choice and no-choice tests were conducted on Agerataum houstoniamum Mill., Bidens pilosa L., Chrysanthemum indicum L., Dahlia pinnata Cav, Guizotia abyssinica L., Helianthus annuus L., Lactuca sativa L., Parthenium hysterophorus L., Perilla frutescence L., Xanthium strumarium L., Zinnia elegans Jacq. and Jasminum officinale L. Among tested plant species, P. hysterophorus was only a preferred host of Z. bicolorata on which both larvae and adults fed. Ovipostion, larval development, pupation and adult emergence of Z. bicolorata occurred successfully on P. hysterophorus completing its life cycle. Larvae consumed H. anuus but could not pupate, and adults fed on it when starved for 5 days in no-choice test. -

Abstract: Keys in Spanish and English are given for the genera of Chrysomelinae known from Costa Rica. For each genus, a list of species compiled from collections in the University of Costa Rica, the National Biodiversity Institute, and the entomological literature is presented. The genus Planagetes Chevrolat 1843 is recorded for the first time from Central America, and the genus Leptinotarsa Stål 1858 is synonymized with Stilodes Chevrolat 1843.
