Goulter Leaves Twigs, petioles and both the upper and lower surfaces of the leaf blade clothed in stellate hairs. Stipules filiform, hairy, about 5-7 mm long. Leaf blades about 6.5-19 x 3-11 cm, margins irregularly crenate. Twig bark strong and fibrous when stripped. Flowers Flowers produced along the stems. Pedicels about 5-10 mm long. First leaves +/- orbicular, about 7-8 x 6 mm, margins +/- crenate with 5-7 teeth on each side, petioles about 1.5 mm long. The upper surface of the leaf blades glabrous, the lower surface clothed in stellate hairs. At the tenth leaf stage: all parts of the seedling clothed in stellate hairs. Leaf blade broadly obovate, base cordate, margin irregularly crenate with about 15-30 teeth on each side, venation palmate with 3-7 veins radiating from the base. Stipules linear, about 4 mm long, clothed in stellate hairs. Taproot thickened, carrot-like (Daucus carota). Seed germination time 11 to 77 days. Distribution and Ecology Occurs in NT, CYP and the Gulf Region of NEQ near the Northern Territory border. Altitudinal range from Cotyledon stage, epigeal germination. Some compounds isolated from Malvaceae members such as flavonoids, phenolic acids, and polysaccharides are considered responsible for these activities. Although the flavonoid profiles of several Malvaceae family members are REVIEW REVIEW ARTICLE investigated, the information is scattered. To understand the chemical variability and chemotaxonomic relationship among Malvaceae family members summation of their phytochemical nature is essential. Hence, this review aims to summarize the distribution of flavonoids in species of genera namely Abelmoschus, Abroma, Abutilon, Bombax, Duboscia, Gossypium, Hibiscus, Helicteres, Herissantia, Kitaibelia, Lavatera, Malva, Pavonia, Sida, Theobroma, and Thespesia, Urena, In general, flavonols are represented by glycosides of quercetin, kaempferol, myricetin, herbacetin, gossypetin, and hibiscetin. More importantly each of the 187 BMCs who were involved had also outlined the major causes for such an impact as perceived by them and suggested strategies for biodiversity conservation at local level. Being a study conducted by local community all efforts has been made to incorporate practical approaches for prioritizing areas for biodiversity conservation which can be implemented at local level.

Isolation of alkaloids, flavonoids and phenolic compounds was done by using HPTLC technique. The invitro antimicrobial activities of methanolic extract, isolated alkaloids, flavonoids and phenolic compounds were investigated against Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella abony and Staphylococcus aureus by cup-plate diffusion method.The methanolic extract showed activity against Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella abony and Staphylococcus aureus., isolated phenolic compounds against Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Salmonella abony., isolated flavonoids against Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus., and isolated alkaloids against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus.Minimum inhibitory concentration was determined by liquid broth method. Minimum inhibitory concentration of methanolic extract against Pseudomonas aeruginosa was found to be 10µg/ml and that against Staphylococcus aureuswas found to be 8µg/ml.
