Grade 6 Scholarship Applications – DUE FRIDAY Spade Computers has kindly offered a Scholarship for a Grade 6 student to the value of $500. All students are encouraged to submit an application which will need to be given to Mr Brodie by Friday 13th December. The Scholarship will be awarded to the student on Tuesday 17th December at the Christmas Concert / Graduation Night and presented by David Steigenberger from Spade Computers. A lot of consideration has been made in regard to making this process fair for everyone, but to make it meaningful only one award will be given. Staff at school will have the hard task of selecting the recipient of this scholarship and Spade Computers will be involved in the decision process as well. We hope this partnership may continue for years to come. The application should be between 250 and 500 words and typed up. The application should be completed at home and students will need to follow the guidelines below: Application: 1. Comment on your time at Tallygaroopna Primary School. 2. Comment on what have been your highlights at Tallygaroopna Primary School. 3. Comment on what makes Tallygaroopna Primary School unique. 4. Comment on how you have demonstrated behaviour and a work ethic that reflects our school values of Respect, Honesty and Inclusion. All grade 6 students received a formal letter in relation to this. 2. Class Structures for 2014 Next year again promises to be a very exciting one at Tallygaroopna Primary School. We anticipate starting the year with 47 students, with the aim of building on this for the future. We will continue to provide well-structured and resourced literacy and numeracy blocks along with a variety of specialist subjects as well. Art, Library, LOTE (Italian), Science, Information Technology and Physical Education will continue to be implemented. Next year, we will be still keeping our 3 grades and I will continue teaching in a Full Time capacity. Prep / Grade 1 – Mrs Wallace (12 students – 7/5) Science – taught by all class teachers Grade 2/3/4 – Mrs Haberfield (21 students – 11/8/2) Bounce Back – taught by all class teachers Grade 5/6 – Mr Brodie (14 students – 10/4) Information Technology – Mr Brodie / Mrs Haberfield School Business Manager – Mrs Armstrong Physical Education – Mr Brodie / Mrs Wallace We hope Library will continue to be held on a Thursday, with Art also on a Friday – to be confimred. These days will alternate each week. 3. School Reports As stated previously, school reports will be distributed in sealed envelopes next Monday. If parents would like some more feedback about individual student performance at school feel free to contact class teachers to arrange an informal meeting once reports are distributed to families. Teachers spend a lot of valuable time putting these together so please take the time to read these before the school year ends. Remember that these reports can be placed in the green report folders which every student at school should have. The report cards have: a chart with an A-E rating, showing your child's current progress against the expected state-wide standard as well as the progress they have made since the previous year a chart showing your child‘s level of effort and class behaviour details about attendance easy to understand comments from teachers outlining what your child knows and can do, any areas in which your child needs to be given further help or extended, and how this will be done suggestions for how you can help at home 8 4. End of Year Excursion A huge thank you to the many families who attended the Echuca excursion and helped with supervision.

I think it’s safe to say all teachers, par- ents and students learnt a lot about what it must have been like to live on the Goldfields of Ballarat during the Australian Gold Rush. Highlights of our two day trip included watching the ‘Blood on the Southern Cross’ show, witnessing gold get smelted and re-poured into gold bars, descending into the Red Hill Mine, dressing up in olden day clothes, panning for gold and witnessing children consume lol- lipops the size of their own heads! A big thanks must go to Mrs Walsh who organised the excursion and to all the parents who helped over the two days. I really appreciated all the support and sympa- thy I received from those parents and teachers who witnessed my efforts trying to fill up the school bus on Thursday night! We have a huge fortnight coming up here at Currawa PS. The Life Education Van date has been changed from this Friday to next Monday and we will attend Dookie PS for the full day. Buses will run as per normal. We have two Cluster Days next Tuesday and Thursday too. The first will be with the Shepparton Small Schools Cluster and we will watch a performance of Sleeping Beauty in the morning and compete in a range of Tabloid Sports in the afternoon.
