Acer Incorporated 2 Historique Fondé en 1976, le groupe Acer possède aujourd'hui de très nombreuses participations dans d'autres groupes industriels, notamment : BenQ, Winstron, AOpen, AU Optronics, ULi… Ainsi, Acer développe directement ou indirectement la plupart des pièces qu'il incorpore à ses produits (chipsets audio et graphique, dalles d'écrans, etc.). En 2005, Acer possède 18% de parts de marché au premier trimestre 2005. Acer prend le contrôle du constructeur américain d'ordinateurs Gateway dont eMachines en août 2007, et de Packard Bell en septembre, et se hisse ainsi au troisième rang des constructeurs informatiques (10% du marché mondial[1] [3] ) dans le monde, derrière les américains Hewlett-Packard et Dell, mais devant le chinois Lenovo. La politique d'Acer est basée sur la vente indirecte uniquement, par les canaux de distribution historique. La politique de contrôle de qualité et de service après vente d'Acer sont souvent critiqués par le public, car indigne d'un fabriquant situé dans le trio de tête des constructeurs. Acer est devenu en 2007 le troisième fabricant mondial La PDG fondateur de ACER Stan Shih. d'ordinateurs en 2007 en rachetant la société Gateway et en atteignant ainsi une production de 20 millions d'ordinateurs par an. Début 2009 Acer relance la marque Gateway en Europe [4] . Avec pour objectif cette stratégie multimarques : Packard Bell vise le grand public, eMachines le grand public premier prix, Acer mise sur la mobilité pour séduire à la fois les consommateurs et le marché du Soho, et Gateway cible les entreprises de plus grande dimension. Son PDG est Gianfranco Lanci. Acer dans le sport[5] Sports mécaniques Acer a débuté ses activités en Formule 1 en 2000 en tant que commanditaire de l'équipe BAR-Honda. L'année suivante, Acer est devenu commanditaire de l'équipe Prost Grand Prix et a servi de prête-nom au moteur Ferrari 049C client (moteur champion du monde en 2000) utilisé par les monoplaces de l'équipe. Les monoplaces françaises s'inscrivirent donc au championnat du monde sous le nom Prost-Acer. Ce Jean Alesi sur Prost-Acer AP04 au GP moteur a pris le départ de 17 GP et a permis à Prost GP de France en 2001 d'inscrire un total de 4 points. Son meilleur résultat est une 5e place au GP du Canada (Jean Alesi sur AP04) et la meilleure qualification a été obtenue par Heinz-Harald Frentzen, 4e sur la grille du GP de Belgique. Le partenariat entre Acer Incorporated 3 Acer et Prost se termina à la fin de la saison 2001. Depuis 2003, Acer est partenaire financier et technique de la Scuderia Ferrari. Outre le soutien de l'équipe de F1, l'alliance a abouti à la création d'une ligne de produits Acer portant la marque Ferrari. Acer a aussi été présent en Moto GP en 2007, en tant que partenaire de l'équipe Yamaha. Autres sports En football, Acer a signé un partenariat avec l'Inter Milan en 2003. Depuis 2007, le constructeur informatique est aussi fournisseur du FC Barcelone. Acer est aussi l'un des sponsors de l'Espérance Sportive de Tunis. Enfin, Acer fait partie des partenaires officiels des prochains Jeux olympiques d'hiver de 2010 et d'été de 2012. Après la cessation d'activité de l'entreprise française en championnat du monde (par manque de résultats dus au fait que le bloc A20 n'était pas réputé pour sa fiabilité et souffrait de problèmes de fissuration des blocs et de la culasse), Asiatech motorise les écuries Arrows puis Scuderia Minardi. Les moteurs Asiatech ont pris le départ de 33 GP en 2 saisons de F1 mais ils n'ont permis d'inscrire qu'un maigre total de 3 points. Le meilleur résultat de ces moteurs est une 5e place au Grand Prix d'Australie 2002 (Mark Webber sur Minardi PS02) et la meilleure place sur la grille est une 13e position Jos Verstappen au Grand Prix du Canada 2001 sur Arrows A22. L'entreprise, faute de résultats et de moyens pour poursuivre le développement d'un moteur créé plusieurs années auparavant et ne pouvant plus rivaliser avec la concurrence, a quitté la F1 à la fin de la saison 2002. Le motoriste présenta même à Monza une monoplace au couleur d'Asiatech pour attirer des capitaux, mais cela n'y changera rien. De plus l'écurie Arrows engager pour la saison 2003 devait étre motoriser de nouveau avec le motoriste nippon. Asiatech, dans un communiqué de presse en date du 5 novembre 2002, annonce sa décision de cesser son activité de motoriste et la fermeture de son établissement de Vélizy depuis la fin octobre[1] . Une grande partie du personnel de l’ancienne équipe de Peugeot Sport F1 sera réintégrée dans les départements techniques du constructeur, mais aucun ne pourra integrer la structure WRC de Peugeot et plusieurs, parmi les plus passionnés, retrouveront une place dans différentes équipes de compétition automobile, notamment chez Renault Sport et Mecachrome. La mise en liquidation judiciaire de la société est conclue mi-février 2003 par la vente aux enchères[2] de l’ensemble des matériels subsistants et notamment plusieurs moteurs, des bancs d’essais de puissance, etc[3] .
