His productions of Wagner's Walkyrie (1892), Tristan et Yseult (1896) and other Wagner are documented, as are his designs for the modern rhythmic dances of Jacques Dalcroze and Ibsen's Petit Eyolf, Orphee, King Lear, and Hamlet. Finally, there are a series of drawings from his Gluck Iphigenie operas. DontDelete $1,200

First edition in this format, illustrated with duo-tone offset lithographs by Stan Washburn. One of three hundred numbered copies (of 326), signed by the author and the artist. 128 p. The eight illustrations (10" x 7") by Stan Washburn depict the set for the play in great detail. The binding is full cloth in a golden-brown color, with an additional illustration by Washburn of a clock inset on the front cover; enclosed in a slipcase with cloth edges and paper sides. Extremely fine in slipcase.

Miller’s most successful work since Death of a Salesman, The Price depicts a family betrayal played out by two brothers who grew up during the Depression. They come together after sixteen years estrangement to clear their childhood home in Manhattan of furniture. Long-held rivalries, resentments, and delusions surface when they meet amidst surroundings that prompt painful memories of their father who became immobilized after losing his wealth in the Crash of 1929. As they confront each other, while negotiating with an elderly dealer in second-hand goods, the viewer - and reader - understands that ‘the price’ has more than one meaning. Comic relief comes in the character of the 89-year-old furniture dealer, Gregory Solomon, a wise man who is both scoundrel and saint.
