Peter Hook: The New Order Collection (A168) Fri, 8th Oct 2021 Viewing: Monday 4th October - Friday 8th October by appointment Lot 345 BRIT AWARDS 2005 AND Q AWARDS 2007 BRIT AWARDS 2005 AND Q AWARDS 2007. Collection of memorabilia from awards nights attended by Hooky to include wristbands, passes, programmes, itineraries, globetrotter "goodie bag" suitcase with spank paddle inside plus other tickets and correspondence relating to the events. Two of the giants of the Awards industry. These events certainly lost their allure once I got sober, but I must admit it was nice to be acknowledged over the years. They were very glitzy occasions still, and as a fan as well, I was certainly in awe of some of the artists there, to say the least. We presented to The Scissor Sisters at The Brits. The Q Awards was a tribute to Tony Wilson. A reviewer said... Former Stone Roses frontman Ian Brown, who won the Q Legend award, even paid tribute to Peter Hook, the former New Order bass guitarist who was there to present the Q Hero prize posthumously to Factory Records founder Anthony Wilson, for naming his studio Suite 16 in 1986. Wilson, who died in August aged 57 following a battle with cancer, received the biggest standing ovation for his part in creating an enduring Manchester musical legacy. His voice cracking, Hook said: “This is very difficult for me. He always said to me, when you want me I won’t be there but when you need me... I will be. I truly believe that.” Wilson’s award was collected by his children Oliver and Isobel, who said: “We miss him and it’s really nice to know other people do too.” Condition Report There is no condition report for this lot..

DVD REVIEW: SCISSOR SISTERS LIVE IN VICTORIA PARK, LONDON Missed that summer feeling? Feeling a little blue? Then this one is for you. by Professor Ball | 23rd January 2013 ★★★★★ The epically flamboyant Scissor Sisters are easily one of the greatest, with their disco rock sounds and alternative sense of style that few can pull off. It was back in 2004 that the Scissor Sisters really made headway in the UK with their debut album, gaining them three BRIT Awards in 2005. But their success didn't stop there. Notable collaborations with Kylie and Elton John have made this outrageously camp band into one with continual renewal and vivacity. The DVD is certainly a must have, a colourful explosion of music, love and sexual desire. Jake is guaranteed to raise temperatures of every guy in the audience in his tight rubber trousers and wildly suggestive moves. From the opening it quickly reignited my lost love for them, turning up the volume to full capacity. Classics such as Take Your Mama and Filthy/Gorgeous gave that beautiful nostalgic feeling as the soundtrack of past summers. These were thrown into the mix of the more recent singles to create one huge fetish fest. Throughout there just didn't seem to be any low points, with superb vocals and musical arrangements, and an energy that can only be described as music on steroids. And as if that wasn't enough, the two bonus tracks bring an additional climax to the whole show. No anti-climax here - it is a pulse throbbing sensation the whole way.
